Iphone Replacement Question: Color

Just curious if anyone has had their phone replaced by Apple due to warranty on the hardware and was able to get a different color? I am assuming no? I am guessing when I go on Saturday, they will replace my phone with the identical model/color. If anyone has had a different experience I would appreciate hearing it.

Apple will not replace a device for a different color under warranty. It will be an identical model you have. But it doesn't hurt to ask them and see if they will allow it.

lol so, you start out with a definite answer that they will not do that. then, you follow up with a "but maybe they'll do it" type of comment

My guess would be if you do it online there's no chance, but if you go into an Apple store you might be able to get them to do it. Probably depends on the employee and what kind of day they are having too. I'm sure the official answer is "no" though.

Nope, I tried once with an iPad 2 replacement and once with an iPhone 6 plus. Both times they said I had to get the same color due to warranty policy or whatever. If I was paying for the replacement, of course they would have let me get a different color

The policy is no, but you'll find some posts on here over the years from where the Genius was able to do that "surprise and delight" nonsense () and make a color change happen.

Like most others have said, it most likely won't happen unless the employee is having a phenomenal day. I kind of wish they would allow a color change, but I'm sure we'd see people take advantage of it left and right.

Even if you pay OOW replacement fee, Apple will not allow you to change the color of the device. Its an identical swap only. They take back your damaged phone and remanufacture it. Its for inventory numbers and whatnot.

Nope. I've tried it 7 or 8 times now and never have they allowed it
