Im having some issues with my iphone, have my 1 year warranty still left.

I dont have a apple store around me or anything so i called the 1-800-263-3394 number.. Im in canada and the closest store is about 8-9hours away where the genius resides

Now their telling me that they could take my phone and id be phoneless for 3 days while they repair. or i can get it exchanged for a new phone for 30$... I thought it was covered under the warranty incase i need to exchange my phone..

What is this about? I thought it was free because im having the old iphone getting overheated in the back/battery draining itself issue.

Sounds like it is free. I haven't looked closely at the warranty so I'm not sure what is covered and what isn't. Sounds like it IS free, if you want to drive to the apple store, or in your case mail it to Apple. They'll either repair or replace, no charge. Or, for a $30 fee, they'll replace for you as a convenience. Not sure what the problem is...

Honestly if I were you, I would just eat the 30$.

It some sort of advanced replacement fee of 30$.. And a hold of 600$ gets put on my credit card if the phone as "accidental damage" on it.

Now what worries me is that they can say whatever they want once they get my iphone and charge me 600$ just like that.

I wish i had a damn apple store here so i can go in person to get it checked out.

I thought even the replacement was free and not 30$

Again, and this is just guessing here... You could get a RMA from apple, mail them your unit. They will attempt to fix it. If they can't, they will replace with and equivelent or better model. The replacement may be new or refurbished. This shouldn't cost you a dime.

Alternatively, you can have them mail you a brand new phone, once you receive it and activate it, you send back the old one. This would have the $30 fee attached.

The hold of the 600$ on your credit card scares me too. Your package could get damaged in shipping and you could get nailed for the 600$. Honestly thats not an acceptable solution. Hmm...

I've done the advance replacement service for about 5 times and never had an issue. The box is well protected and they said that they will call you if they need to charge the $600 or if you would like them to send back the damaged unit and you send back the new iPhone. This service cost $29 but is free if you have the Apple Care protection plan for iPhone.

exactly, but i dont want to get Apple Care protection plan.

So are you sure they call you before they charge you the 600$ fee and you can send them back "their" phone and get yours back?

    Thanks

Give them a call and find out. If you're still confronted then ask them to fax/email you a copy of the written agreement.
