I am still contemplating keeping the pro max that I ordered last week but as we're only 2/3 of a year away from another release, am wondering if it is worth it and what the possible sell on value will be by this time. Any thoughts?

Check www.swappa.com for current completed sales prices. You can see what previous generation phones are currently going for in order to get an idea what the pro max will be going for the same time next year.

If your going to want to get the new phone, hold off if you can... as the 11 range will take a hit much like the XS/X did when their replacements got released.

If your going to keep it long term, or keep it within the family, then buy it now and doing second guess your purchase.

Let me ask you this, why would you want to sell your Pro-Max? What future iPhone feature(s) could offer you that you’d be willing to go to that length to sell an iPhone that you ordered just last week? I mean, you have 14 days with the Pro-Max, if you don’t like it, simply return it.

Makes sense. To be honest, if I shell out that much and it depreciates by £400-500 in 8 months I will certainly be keeping it for a couple of years.

Not sure. I guess I think that as we are on the third year of the 'X/XS/11' design there will be a big overhaul this year which may come with some good new features. Although if the rumour of the phone design being more square like the iPhone 4 (5?) is correct, I would be happy not to have it!

It was more just get an idea of the level of depreciation I would be faced with, if it was £200-£300 I could stomach it but not up to £500. I am still deciding whether to keep it. to be honest, if my wife wasn't in need of a new phone I would probably return it and wait but as she does need one, I am thinking that my XR would be perfect for her for 2-3 years and the pro max for me for at least 2.

Hard to say what the resale will be once the new model comes out. Why not go with an upgrade plan if there's one available to you. I'm on Verizon's upgrade plan and it's nice having the option to upgrade to the newest if I choose to.

Really tempted but the per month cost is just a little bit too much vs 24 month instalments (£72 v £54). And I don’t want Apple care. The trade off is having to wait a lot longer to upgrade.
