Yesterday, my phone kept restarting which I thought was pretty weird but I was still able to go on it.

However, last night, my phone started restarting on its own and wouldn't stop. It would go to this grey page with a line in the middle, or a grey box and red box, or a grey box and green box, then restart again and continue this cycle. I've tried turning it off and on. I've also tried updating it. Now it goes to my normal lock screen, but once I put in my passcode, it just restarts. Someone please help. :-(

Sounds like you should try to use DFU or at least recovery mode to restore it as new and see if that fixes it. If not, you might want to take it to Apple.

You should backup to save your data, and then try C DM's suggestion. I wouldn't restore from backup until it seems to work fine when you restore it as new. Then try restoring it from backup and see if the problems persist.

If I've never backed my phone up before, would all my information be lost?

That's the point of the backup process, to make sure that the data isn't lost and can be restored afterward.

Assuming the backup process goes well, then your data should be fine in the backup. If because of whatever's going on with your phone, the backup process doesn't work, then yeah, some of your information will be lost when you restore your phone.

Note that backing up doesn't mean it deletes the information off your phone. It's just making a copy of it on your computer or iCloud.

Things like contacts, calendars, and stuff like that won't be lost if you have them synced with an online service like iCloud or Google.

If you try to make a backup with iTunes and it fails to make a backup, there are programs out there that you can use to look into your iPhone's data when it's connected to your computer that could potentially extract data you need.
