    Hey guys,
So my 3G decided to go into an infinite boot sequence after messing around with winterboard, and so i put it into DFU mode to restore. So after it restored i used a backup from a few months ago that was when the iphone was still jailbroken. One of the mods I did back then was use "Poof!" on prefs and made some apps (Contacts, Calculator, Stocks) disappear from the home screen (but still able to bring them up with the quick gold launcher). Now with a restored iphone + backup (non jailbroken), those 3 apps are STILL missing from the home screen even after the restore. And after upgrading to 3.0, I can't even search them using finder. Is it the backup that is doing this? Thanks!

nvm, I guess its cuz i had the apps in categories or w/e and forgot to take them out. SO does anyone know a way to keep the backup? Or to retrieve texts/contacts and all that through ssh and then setup as a new phone and ssh them back? thanks

edit: nvm fixed it by resetting settings

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I *do* have the exact same problem! Did not remove some apps from folders on jailbroken iphone, upgraded to 3.0 (and even tried a subsequent restore), but cannot get those apps to show on the iPhone. I am quite sure they are on there (could see them loading from itunes).

Fortunately, will transition to 3gS tomorrow, and I expect they will then show up. But if anyone has answer to how to get them back, I'd like to know. I want to sell 3g iphone, and don't want buyer to have any problems.

I'm really surprised this didn't get fixed with a restore! I even had some native apps in a folder (like camera), and now they are gone as well....

Just found an answer on another posting!! Go to Settings--> General--> Restrictions.

Enable Restrictions, then immediately Disable Restrictions. Now reboot iPhone (Hold power/home button until it completely resets).

    all will appear again!

What are the odds. I came into this forum to post a thread asking just this question.

    Success!
