Not seen anyone mention this but I can confirm the iPad 3rd Gen uses the retina iPhone apps as opposed to the clunky old ones.

Nice little bonus I think! :)
 
Good! I wish apple wouldn't be stuck up idiots and also let 1st and 2nd gen users display the 960x640 versions of apps natively.

Yes too right, no reason whatsoever they haven't done this.
 
So doesn't this mean they are still 2x when scaled up?

Because at 1x the iPhone display will be 640x960. To fill the screen of iPad it will still have to pixel double.
 
Makes Spotify look a hell of a lot better. Just wish they'd come out with a native app.
