Quick question - just upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro Max 64 gb - after a week I'm worried I need more space-
I am still within the return window, however with the lack of availability (end of October availability) I am not sure how this would work out.

Anyone have similar experience?

Depends how you paid for your device, if it is outright, I would use the app to purchase another one for in store pick up. There’s are many availability in the mornings before they open. Just return the previous iPhone.

You just return the phone and order a new one. Nothing special there. 64GB is plenty for most. I only use about 30GB but use iCloud storage for pics and videos. I stream all music and video. Never an issue.

I see many options here.

1. Check iStocknow.com. You can also set istocknow.com to notify you if the Apple store near you receives stock.
2. Check Apple.com daily as they do update stock availability when they receive stock. Apple do receive shipments on a daily basis but they don't know what's in the shipment until the open it and update their inventory.
3. IF the apple store near you does not have in stock by the 4th of October, then one option is to just return that one Friday and get the cheapest (iphone 8 for temporarily) model. You have a new 14 day return window for that.

I know #3 may not be ideal, but I've even heard Apple Store make this suggestions for their customers.

Some areas still show stock but Apple Store near me is completely out of stock on the Pro and Pro Max, for all colors, storage and models.

LOL I'm going the other way. Ordered a Pro Max 256 and going down to a Pro 64. Ended up on Installment Program by mistake so just joined IUP and found my phone at another store about an hour away and placed the order. Will pick up tonight and return the one I have. The trick is finding what you want before your return window runs out or choose one of the other options given. I also have iCloud so no need for the 256. I also used only 30gb over the last two years.

Caution: the 13 day return window starts on the day you preordered, no on the day you received the phone.
That is incorrect, the 13/14 day return window does start on the day you received your phone, not when you pre-ordered it.

Once the package is marked "Delivered" on Apple.com Order status is when the 14 day return window starts. I ordered an apple product on the 2nd, delivered to me on the 3rd, I had the return button available to me 14 days from the 3rd, which was the 17th.

For what it's worth (not much IMO but YMMV) returning the phone will zero out the associated loan. A replacement will start a new loan.

I think Apple charge an amount if you return the iPhone (or any "iDevice" open) in California :(

This is not true.

That's wrong, but it's possible that the AppleCare+ period starts ticking on the order date. I think I've run into that with Macs, but I might be mis-remembering. Someone will correct if wrong. ;)

But wouldn't Applecare+ readjust itself eventually?

Relying on iCloud to ‘save’ storage capacity is a misconception, since copies of your photos are still downloaded and stored on your device (the way you can do is ‘optimized’ which stores smaller versions of the images - music takes up an insignificant amount on your device, even if downloaded.)

That with iCloud, 16GB is plenty on iPhones, is what Phil Schiller was saying to justify Apple holding on for far too long to that entry level capacity.

Actually optimizing on the phone is a big help. The full size images are stored on icloud. Also downloading from icloud to your pc and deleting from icloud is a great way to free up space on your iPhone. I've never used over 30 GB and have thousands of pics that I backup on my PC and external hard drives. There is no reason to store many years of pics on your phone.
