iphone screen lights up with each new song

Anyone notice that the screen auto brightens every time a new song comes on? Is there anyway to disable this? Cant tell you how annoying it is when driving to suddenly have the phone light up... 2.2 didnt do this.

I have the LiquidAux car charger/input and when driving with 2.2, the phone would dim after x sec and stay that way until you touched it... now it brightens back up with each new song.... gotta be a way to disable it.

i've got a mount that puts it right next to my radio, the only time it bothers me is at night. Just seems like a power waster. if I want to see what song is playing, I will tap the screen.

I noticed this too. I figured it was already listed as a new feature in the 3.0 new features thread, but maybe it isn't.

Same here. I just noticed it earlier today, but it doesn't do it if you turn the screen all the way off.

the funnier part is it still does it if you leave the ipod... I went back to the home screen, and into another app and it still would light back up when a new song started. 🙂

I didnt see this as a "feature", more a bug.

Mine does this as well but I've only noticed this while the iPhone was plugged in

It is a bug. I was having the same problem when I noticed this thread. It seems to ONLY occur however (after testing) when on a power source.

It shouldn't light up the display, regardless of the app...

Edit: It doesn't happen if you attach the power source after the music is playing.
