Right a few weeks ago around 6-7 stuck pixels appeared on my iPhones screen, they seem to randomly appear/disappear but are allways in the same place (see picture). I'm wondering firstly what could have caused them? and secondly if I took it into my local apple store will they do anything about it? How many stuck pixels warrant a replacement, any one know?

And finally as it is the phone is jailbroken, is that going to present a problem if I show it to a genius? Thanks Joe

The jailbreak might very well pose a problem, if you're going to take the thing in I'd restore it to factory.

Anywho, this happened to my dad's first gen, but when we turned it off and on the stuck pixels went away. If they don't go however I can imagine a Genius just swapping that out for you.

Which iPhone is it and how long have you had it?

Also, take the jailbreak off before you take it to the Genius Bar, going into the Apple Store with a jailbroken iPhone is one of the dumbest things possible.

It's a 3G and have had it since around August, tried turning it off and on when it first appeared, jailbreak will be removed before I do anything about it. Is the present 5 pixels enough to swap it out for a new one? Also on a side not what would have happened if I had taken it in jailbroken? Real answers to the last one please and not just they take hte phone from me.

They can't legally take the phone from you. They would void your warranty.
The may only give you a refurb, when (if) the genius gets your new phone check to see if he gets it from a white box.
If it's in a white box it's refurb. Refurbished devices aren't bad at all.
My iPod touch was replaced with a refurb and it look brand new.
Plus, all the parts in a refurb have been tested.
