iPhone SE (2020) iPhone SE 2: Wait for iOS 27 or buy new iPhone?

Hi, contemplating about getting the iPhone 17e as iOS 26 isn‘t smooth at all on my iPhone SE 2. Recently I read about improved performance on iOS 27 (beta testers experience). So is there hope for the iPhone SE 2? Are there any users here who tested iOS 27 beta on a IPhone SE 2?

SE 2/iOS 26 user here; what isn't working for you? The only issue I have is, when AirDropping a photo from my camera to laptop, it says "Sending from Jane Doe's iPhone" (she's my sister, and uses an Android, haven't been able to fix that).

Since iOS 26 a lot of things are often sluggish, like opening camera, taking a photo and then sending it, opening reminders or some other apps. In iOS 18 everything was way smoother.

Thanks. Hmm, I haven't noticed that. But, to your original question I would wait and try iOS 27 first, before spending money. I've had no problem with iOS26 nor Mac OS 26, but iPadOS 26 is buggy as hell, for me.

Even if the iPhone SE2 performs better on iOS 27, it's already on borrowed time.

I recommend buying a new iPhone 17e now before Apple raises iPhone prices.

Hi - I agree with @BotchQue to just wait and see how 27 works on your SE 2, then make the decision. Might save some $$$ - -

Can do both! Don't see prices going up for 17e anytime soon (if ever), so see how things are with iOS 27 and if still not good, pull the trigger on a 17e before a possible price hike with 18e.

Think I'll wait then until the official release of iOS 27 in september. Though there could be price increases even for the current iPhone lineup (I hope not).

Not much buzz from SE 2 users about iOS 27 beta. Older phones tend to struggle more with new versions, not less. If 26 is already frustrating, getting a new phone is probably the call.

Prices pretty much guaranteed to rise by September.

Since 17e is 8/256, the increase will be $100 given what we've seen with Mac and iPad.

Amazing value and they’ll go up in price within a couple of months.

Are you sure you're not just out of space. iOS and macOS both become incredibly sluggish when your storage is nearly full, due to how flash storage works.

Relatedly, I kinda wish they'd just hide some of the space to ensure it never gets so low that usability becomes terrible, but I'm sure someone would file a class action against that. Maybe add a setting to make both sets of people happy.

Personally I’d pull the trigger and get a 17e now, because price rises are coming! Plus you’ll have a shiny new iPhone with significant upgrades in every aspect over the SE2.
