Well I am now the proud owner of a new Nano-SIM from AT&T. It arrived safe-n-sound in an air sleave within an air pocket filled box. It was shipped last night for delivery today. So at this moment my new iPhone SE appears to be set for delivery tomorrow.

It appears that it may be a SIM Free iPhone SE "Unlocked" unit vs a carrier iPhone from Apple that would normally arrive with a pre-installed carrier Nano-SIM.

Another possibility is a device on Reseller Flex policy which could pose problems with unlocking later on.

give us your thoughts on the nano-Sim after 24h HANDS ON
Well my thoughts will be the same as now since I have already placed it safely in the SIM tray aka a desk drawer. Here is a picture of the packaging that Walmart used to protect this new Nano-SIM.

Walmart knows how to hype up your purchase

I spoiled 'the process,' cancelled my preorder in the store, and picked one up there

No issue with unlocking later. The family member that will use this iPhone SE has been with AT&T since 2004 and AT&T is financing it at $8.30/mo for 30 mo at 0%. It will qualify to be unlocked automatically.

My personal guess is that it is going to actually be an unlocked Verizon model but we have to wait until tomorrow afternoon.

Great execution on your part.

I never caught one here in my local Walmart while waiting for my preorder. I kept wondering if I would "Cancel" my order since the cancel button is so large on the Walmart.com Account page.

So does this deal require signing a contract or is it a standalone purchase? I am considering getting an SE but would want to keep the option of upgrading to the new iPhone later this year, so don't want to sign a 2-year contract for SE.

Mine may be out for delivery today. I got 2 emails from Walmart that were a little confusing about 2 deliveries: 1 for the SIM and 1 for the iPhone SE. Still no status change on Walmart site under my account. However I have 2 tracking numbers for USPS that I can track.

USPS says delivery of one of them today between 12:45 - 3:45 PM ET today.

Dave

I got my phone today but the SIM is coming tomorrow. I don’t understand why they’re sending a SIM. Is there not a SIM already in the phone? It’s Verizon.

It’s at&t financing or carrier financing. You have to do it at least for a little before buyout but it is net 200/250/350 for 64/128/256gb no catch

Not a contract like they used to be in order to get the sale price.

That’s packed better than my phone. I had two of those big air sleeves but the phone was pressed up against the side of the box. No bubble wrap around the phone box.

So can I pay $199 and not having to sign any contract.. like payments spread over 30 months. Last time I checked on At&t site, it said monthly payments for 30 months or so. Do you have to be on the monthly carrier financing for few months and then you can buyout? With T-mobile the buyout was the full price $399 instead of $199, so not really a good deal.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work.

There may be some technical issues with phones on the US Reseller Flex policy (SIM separate from phone). I believe the device sometimes doesn't get registered as a locked device in AT&T's system so doing the automated online unlock form after paying off might give you a message that it's not an AT&T locked phone.

You can’t just pay $200 up front. You have to tack on financing and buy it out a few months later. You pay taxes on the discounted amount upfront. The buyout is the discounted price not msrp and no catch.

You can pay off anytime but I recall agreeing to keeping service for at least 30 days. The financed amount is just $199/249/349. There's no monthly credits here that you lose with early pay off, just outright cash discount.

Promo runs until June/July, I think. Wonder if the system will allow paying off then buying another discounted phone on the same line. 🤔

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, in case I decide to buyout after a few months then it would be 199-payments already made and not 399-payments already made.

Correct. IMO, any one who has an eligible post paid plan to get on this deal that wants this phone, its absolute no brainer and worth any perceived 'hassle'

If anything, it offers flexibility to keep riding out payments or just be done with it. I'm generally the latter, and will buyout in a few months but not going to be counting down the days. Just enjoying my phone.

And this deal is only at Walmart with At&t and not directly through At&t site?

Ordered mine in 4/17 and still hasn’t shipped. Walmart’s website states it’s still expected to arrive by Monday. Will it actually get here by then even if it hasn’t shipped yet?

I also ordered on 4/17. Just got it today. It came on Walmart’s expected date and not the date FedEx had (It came one day earlier than Fedex reported). The whole process was wonky. Just try to be at your delivery address on the date Walmart says. Might be wrong or right. Wish I could help more but it’s weird.

Well I have still not received my iPhone SE from Walmart. I also pre-ordered on 4/17. It seems they put a rush on the Nano-SIM but can't seem to get the iPhone in the mail.

This is the current status on the Walmart site as of today.

This is the email from Walmart last week which seemed quite promising as the iPhone SE has always shown as Delivery on May 1.
In reviewing our records, we incorrectly notified you that the iPhone SE 2nd Gen preorder had shipped. In fact, it was only the SIM card portion of the item. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

The phone itself is still on track to go out next week on 4/29 as originally planned. You will receive another email once it ships, and can always track the latest progress by logging into your order.

We thank you for your business and understanding.
The mystery continues... as I have a USPS tracking number assigned but it is not yet active in the USPS system.

Just received tracking information for my order. Mine showed delivery date of 5/3-5/4 when I placed my preorder (4/17 afternoon) so seems like it will get to me on time. It actually seems like it might get to me today. Status shows on FedEx vehicle for delivery.

Thanks for the update.

I ordered just after 1 PM ET on 4/17 so maybe mine just missed the bus but I'am glad yours' is on the way with FedEx. @Nukemkb mentioned above about awaiting a delivery from UPS. It still seems really odd that they sent my Nano-SIM overnight on Wednesday for a Thursday delivery via USPS.

Lol, it just arrived an hour ago. :D

Maybe location plays a part? I live near Los Angeles and I think the warehouse here was only around 60 miles away.

I actually ordered later than you (4-6PM Pacific) because Walmart website wouldn't work on my iPad and I've tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox already (even private tabs).

Curious, what configuration did you get?

Mine were:
AT&T White 128GB
Verizon Black 256GB

Yes I spent most of the morning trying different devices and browser combinations but could not get the "Continue" button to show up until I think they actually fixed it. Right after lunch I tried again and the button appeared as if by magic.

Did you get a Nano-SIM with your AT&T iPhone?

Dave

AT&T (Product) Red - 128 GB
