I have the 13 mini on a desk and using my 15pro right now. I'll say that I've been using the 15pro without a case and it's held up well. It's much more tolerable like that. Still not sure if I want the 16 or 16pro. I've always been tech heavy and just get the newest thing. Really like the midnight blue of my 15pro though.

I use my 15 PM action button to silence the phone. I seem to remember doing the same thing with a button on my iPhone 4. If the button suddenly morphed into the mute switch of days of yore, I doubt I'd give it a second thought.
Here’s another guy that never uses the button.

Looks like a dual-camera cutout, that's positive. Now if they'd just maintain a rectangular screen with zero notch or island hole in it and maintain the Home button like the current SE models I'm interested! :)

if the SE has a high speed 3 USB-C
Very small chance of that occuring. Most likely the SE will be based on some version of the plain A18 chip the current only supports USB 2 speeds. Apple is not going to use an enhanced A18 chip in a bargain SE iPhone, if anything it will be a binned or dumb downed A18.

I really like my action button since i can change its functionality based on focus mode, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. What i'd really like to see in an SE is a smaller form factor. Apple's really great with accessibility but it feels like there's a bit of a disconnect in that they keep making bigger phones which are more unwieldy for people with smaller hands.

They could've killed two birds with one stone by making the SE the new "mini". I don't know if Apple is worried about the word "mini" around iPhones but this would've given them a smaller phone in the lineup without naming it as such. Given that it's the SE model, I feel there would also be less pressure on Apple as it's arguably more niche to begin with.

Looks just like a 6 Plus to 8 Plus case.

Does the action button set to the silent feature give specific haptic feedback when silent is enabled in your pocket? Only then will I accept the action button. The silent switch is about the best physical feature of iPhones.

You can't have all new features in a SE. I'm missing nothing with my current 13 mini other than a wider keyboard and maybe close-up photos. Looking forward to this SE.

I want an Action Button on it, only because that means I can automate the Mute switch with Focus modes, and not have to push the button itself every time (like when I go to work).
Then buy an iPhone 16 or 17. The SE doesn’t need it and people with exacting requirements like you should buy the higher-tier phone.

Maybe if the 17 has a smaller price tag or a smaller size. :p

Maybe the SE won't have a mute switch or an Action Button. Return to the iPod touch and iPad functionality!

Sorry to be such a “Debbie Downer” but the mini iPhone form factor is dead and it’s not coming back. Apple realized that people who prefer a smaller form factor phone will eventually settle for a larger phone and perhaps with a watch too.

None of the other major phone manufacturers offer a small phone either. So Apple has no fear of losing market share by not offering a smaller phone. But Apple is concerned about losing sub $500 Phone business, if they fail to provide a new iPhone does not have a comparable size to the competition.

Will not be missing anything due to the lack of action button. The action button is not useful.

That camera cutout is not iPhone 12/13/14. So either this device is not based on those or this leak is bull.

The SE 4 is expected to be "based on" the 14 but not get the same camera. It could look something like the image below:

Rumors have suggested that the iPhone SE 4 will have a design similar to the iPhone 14, featuring an all-display design with Face ID instead of Touch ID, a 6.06-inch display, OLED display technology instead of LCD, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera located in a horizontal oblong bump, an Apple-designed 5G modem, 8GB RAM, a notch, and perhaps a multi-purpose Action button to replace the mute switch.
[sarcasm]
Hallelujah! Finally, a notch! That's the feature I've been looking forward to the most. Praise Tim Cook!

Strange for an SE to get any new exterior structure, but then what do you base the SE on from any of the models of the past five years post-iPhone 8 and also, what factory tooling is currently available to manufacture it, (I think it's been too long to be able to use the iPhone 11 or XR shells...) that also avoids it looking like an iPhone currently in production so as not to cannibalise sales of those models in production? That must have been the dialogue at Apple Park for the SE 4.

This single-camera solution appears to be a purposeful separation of the SE from any of the non-SE models of the past five years, instead of a reiteration of a common old model. But with a single camera, the look flows on from all previous SEs. It's a bizarre but pragmatic continuation of the SE.

The primary value of the iPhone 14 for the SE is that it introduced the new internal design now used by the the iPhones 15 and 16. The iPhone 14 (non-pro) was the first phone with "easily" removable back and front panels. I believe this made for much cheaper repairs, and would also make it much simple to have an iPhone 14 except a different back panel with only one camera lens.

The iPhone 14 is the singularly perfect candidate for becoming the next SE.
