Following nearly two years of rumors about a fourth-generation iPhone SE, The Information today reported that Apple suppliers are finally planning to begin ramping up mass production of the device in October of this year.

If accurate, that timeframe would mean that the next iPhone SE would not be announced alongside the iPhone 16 series in September, as expected. Instead, the report speculates that the device could be released ahead of the Lunar New Year in January 2025. However,
all three existing iPhone SE models were announced in March over the years, so a March 2025 release seems quite possible too.

Rumored features for the fourth-generation iPhone SE include a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, an Action button, and a USB-C port. The device is expected to be similar to the base iPhone 14, although reports said it would have only a single rear camera, and it might share the iPhone 16's rear-panel manufacturing process.

We recently published an iPhone SE 4 rumor recap with all potential features and other details.

Since Chinese New Year is in January, it means work winds down during that period. So it makes sense to ramp earlier in October for a launch in February or March. Keep in mind iPhone 16 is still ramping production in October.

If it has A18 and 8GB for Apple Intelligence, and the 48mp sensor that allows a native-ish centre 12mp 2X crop, I'm not even sure what I'd be missing from the base 16. The ultrawide, but I wouldn't miss it that much. Dynamic Island is a question mark.

I find it strange Apple didn't update the 2 year old iPhone SE 2022, it's very outdated now, and it's the only iPhone left with terrible battery life. Surely they could make one with FaceID, cheaper chassis, cheaper display, etc. for about the sam me price as the SE? Not expecting TouchID like on the iPad Air because people put cases on them.

The current iPhone SE is the Apple Watch Series 3 of the 2021/2022 Apple Watch lineup.

I'm in the camp that says this won't happen. No new design for SE4.

Happy to be proven wrong.

Apple may add the Dynamic Island to the SE 4 to make it look modern. We will find out what tricks apple has up there sleeves for this one.

120 Hz probably, as rumors say it will be available in base iPhone 16

Cannibalisation.
And upwelling.

Base-config MacBook Airs have had terrible storage capacity and outdated RAM size for years.
Surely they could make less outdated configurations for about the same prices their current ones.

I think it'll basically be an XR. But will they square off the shoulders to make it fit in with the rest of the lineup, or will it literally be an XR with a new logic board? That's how all the other SE phones have been so far.

They can use the chassis and design of XR or 11 with rounded edges. Then it will look less modern than 14 / 15 / 16 which makes it easier for Apple to sell more expensive models.
Yes, that's what I'm thinking. If they do offer an SE4, it will most likely be 11 recycled, of course with a USB charging port.

Why are you shock. There was four years between the first and the second and then two years between the second and third.

This is on par for apple

This means we will unfortunately not see the Apple 5-6G modem before 2027, Apple recently extended its contract with QualComm until 2027!

I guess Apple this will integrates Touch Id within power off-on button like iPad air! It makes sense! it will be cheaper without Face ID!

Isn’t that exactly what this article is about? A new iPhone SE with Face ID coming to replace that old one.

It’s quite normal for the SE to only get updated every 2-3 years.

I am leaning more toward the XR because of the single camera.

I actually hope they do move to OLED vs stick with the LCD though, because I'd want higher resolution than the 11/XR.
