All Apple does anymore is change the sizes of their products and yet people keep buying them.

Yes, that's all they ever do

In the case of this product, yes, people are going to buy it because of its size. That's the point.

On paper, I don't think Apple got anything wrong with the SE. It's a 6S in a 4-inch body, it's going for a decent price, and it'll have better battery life than the 4.7. Even the colors give the design a fresh look.

Dear Jony, whats the point of having 2 different shades of Space Gray across the product line ??

I agree, but I'm not sure what the phone in the top picture is supposed to be.

64 GB Space Grey coming tomorrow for my wife. She has no idea. I'll wait til she's asleep then activate it, restore from iCloud, then swap it in to her 5s case and see how long it takes her to notice. :)

Control freak! That’s ilegal. Even if you paid for the dam thing.

The magic of Apple is getting excited about the same phone in a smaller shell. I'm in the "selling my iPhone 6s" camp and can't wait to crush it again with one hand. I can also toss out the cargo pants!

It's not exactly 6s in the 5s body. SE lacks support for LTE-Advanced for example.

we don't have 300 posts of "I can't wait" or "my body is ready", I know there was a lot of excitement for this but is that an anecdotal sign of weaker than expected sales?

No. It's a different kind of excitement. There's absolutely nothing new introduced with this phone that we all haven't been living around for the last 6 months. Some of the features may be new to customers who have been holding on to their original 5s or older phones, but then those weren't the ones standing in line for the 6 or 6s, or even the 5s for some of them. And considering those customers represent less than 50% of the installed base, that's 50% less excitement, arguably from the least excitable customers to begin with. There are some 6 & 6s users "upgrading" but they've already been using all the features the 5s offers. About the only thing that may be exciting for some is the availability of that design in rose gold, which for some tells everyone that you have a new phone, and not the same old 5 or 5s -- you know the thing that likely drove a substantial number of 6s sales.

So under the circumstances, this all makes perfect sense.

Haha, awesome idea, keep us updated mate ! :)

I've had a great money saving idea, readers. I'm going to keep my 4S which is so old now - most people forget which one it is. I then tell them it's the new SE for 2017. When folks say it's a bit on the slow side...I then tell them that it's a battery saving feature. Clever eh? And what's even more clever ... I get around the speed drop by scheduling my net browsing and planning by allowing more time. What's more - the smaller form factor fits my smallest jeans pocket. The styling is 'different' to the latest edition. But. The interface is practically identical in appearance as it was when it was first released! Result ... not just a new looking design. But next years look! For nothing! Beat that!

Mine won't ship before mid April....Anyway looking forward to the phone. Just had a conversation with someone who told me he actually did bend his iPhone 6. I am glad the SE is not ultrathin.

Here's what my wife and I weighed. The first group mattered far more to us (we don't have passports).

Apple Pay
64 GB model for same price as iPhone 5S 32 GB model
Gold and Rose Gold color options

Additional LTE bands

Compared to 4.7" 6S
No $250/50% higher price (64 GB level)
No 3D Touch
No 2nd Generation TouchID
No 5 MP f2.2 Facetime Camera
No Barometer
No 128 GB option

Haha, that is cruel! :D

I should do the same...I bet she wouldn't notice. She might be like "man, after you installed iOS 9.3 on my phone, it is actually faster, but for some reason it messed up my TouchID." I will just reply, "Oh yeah, that's a known issue, just reprogram your fingerprint and it will be fine."
