For current iPhone 5/5S/5C owners, would you upgrade to a iPhone 6S or prefer iPhone SE

I have a 6 and had a 5S... I found the 6 harder to hold and I don't really care for how thin it is I ended up going with a case to give it more of a 5S type shape. Before that I had the iPhone 6 leather case. Screen size though the 4-inch never did it for me, it was just odd, felt too long (thin and tall), only upgraded from the 4S to 5S cause the battery on my 4S just felt like it was slowly fading away.

If you like the 5S then the 5SE should handle the same. It takes some adjustment going to the 6 size width for one handed operation its still not as easy as the 5S but at least its not the Plus width, but I wanted the larger screen and it feels just right vs. the 4-inch screen which just seems squashed horizontally.

I don't believe so, it seems more of a future advantage
Also se if you still have it in 1-2 yrs will benefit from LTE A anyway as more phones will use it and free up the LTE band. Happened with 3G to LTE but I cant be sure that its the same thing

I cant make up my mind. I waited for Apple to release a new flagship 4'inch but was not expecting for them to reuse the same body as the iPhone 5. Sure, it is a good price with good specs but I actually prefer the round body of the iPhone 6, it's more comfortable to hold in your hand if the phone was smaller.

I am hopeing to get some good insight from people who used both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6S on which they prefer? Can you go back to a 4 inch phone? Is the 6S still uncomfortable, too big, 2 handed operation?

Would you pay $200 more now for the 6S with the SE at $400? Let me know your thoughts, it will be greatly appreciated it. I'm trying to make up my mind before pre-orders tonight.

Thanks,
SE has same specs as 6s except for some (to me anyway) useless features such as 3D and front camera not updated to 6s 5 mp. I never shoot selfies with front camera (always with rear more powerful camera even with 6s phone) but I only do selfies here and there.
So SE has a beautiful timesless design, easy to hold (6s is too big for comfortable holding), light and it is flagship (all iPhones are flagship) with less money too.

I'll be getting an SE at some stage. Had no interest in the 6 or 6S as they were too big, and the SE has the added bonus of a cheap price and better battery life :)

  • No LTE Advanced
Can you live without those features?
I think it is too early to say SE lacks LTE-A. While it for sure lacks Cat 5/6 speed of the LTE-A standard, it probably still use the same modem as iPhone 6/6+ which supports LTE Cat 4 speed and carrier aggregation (introduced in LTE-A) of two 10 Mhz bands.

This is one of the things I'm wondering about the SE as well. I've had the 6s for about 6 months now so I know how it performs at work, home and out n about so I'm anxious to see if I will see any performance difference with the SE.

i was having this same problem. I pre-ordered the SE for the husband with his line of work he missed having the smallness of the 5s where he can just throw in his uniform pocket. So when i went to go upgrade my phone yesterday i played around with the 5s they had and the 5c just to see if i could live from going with the iphone 6 to the SE screen size. well after playing around for just 5 mins with the 5s i already knew there was no way i could go back to that screen size. So i ended up getting the 6s which im totally in love with. i would def suggest to go play with them side by side and decide then.

Well, it is just the peak bandwidth that your phone supports. But the achievable cellular performance depends on whether your network already supports those specific configurations - but more importantly, whether your place is crowded with signals.

It does not matter much unless you stream videos, to be honest.

3 hours of extra battery with data on LTE (!!)
Just goes to show how much Apple botched the 4.7 6s.

A phone that much larger should have better battery.

My iPhone 5 had terrible battery, the worst of any iPhone I've owned.

I'm still skeptical of these amazing SE battery claims.

Exactly. I am sure it supports carrier aggregation (LTE-A) but is limited to 150D/50U.

Thanks,

If I wanted a smaller phone, no I would not pay extra for the 6s. And the 6s is $650 not $600. I think.

its 250 more actually

It depends on what you want in a phone. I already have a 6S and I'm not going to buy the SE simply because I'll lose money by selling my 6S to go to a smaller phone. I had an iPhone 5 for 2 years before upgrading to the 6S and the 4" is the perfect size for one handed use. If I were still using the 5 now and was thinking about upgrading I would most likely buy the SE because. 1)I prefer the size of the 4" phone. 2)The SE is £180 cheaper than the 6S but has pretty much the same specs.
I love my 5. I like the size both for my hand and my pocket and didn't really want a bigger one. I saw a friend's wife with a 6S plus and thought "why not just carry a big screen TV around? Or at least, an iPad?" To have a supercharged 5 will be awesome. Plus the price is good. I live in Canada where everything is more expensive and the sales tax is 13%. I will buy an unlocked one in the US and save money on the price plus on the taxes. Maybe I will use the savings to buy the insurance. Do most people buy the insurance?

We don't know about the LTE performance of the SE yet. Currently and maybe not for many years, the 5S, 6S, and SE won't reach max speeds, but there is a big difference in LTE performance of the 6S over the 5S. I used the same sim card in both phones and my 6S is getting close to 40 mbps download while my 5S only gets close to 20 mbps. If the SE uses the same modem as the 5S, then that's something to be concerned about.

Otherwise if speed isn't a huge issue, the SE seems like a great phone.
