I have always wondered what happens to the phones that people send back??
In my case I would imagine that that either the screen would be repaired, should it only the oleophobic coating that was damaged, or the entire screen replaced. It would then not doubt be resold or exchanged as a 'Refurbished' model.

However, I think most of these phones go back with complaints like 'it has a yellow screen' or 'the power button rattles' and Apple just sends those back out again as they don't view those phones to have faults.

It makes you wonder because that nice new phone you bought new may just be one that someone returned.

However I bet Apple inspects them very well and if there is any scratch or fine dent anywhere it gets a new housing but does it get resold as new? My bet is that it's used as a refurbished unit in the stores for trade.

I know for certain that items sold in apples online refurbished store are given a unique serial # because I went to trade in my refurbished iPad mini 2 at an Apple Store and they could not locate the serial # the rep actually had to call in a ticket # and I had to wait 3 days and then come back in which the store was 45 mins from where I live. When I went back they said the unit was refurbished and the credit was going to be much much less, however the store manager gave me a break because I had to travel in multiple times. They really are great with customer service. So i used the credit to buy the iPad mini 4.

So I say all that because I bet those returns phones in the 14 day period are mostly used as refurbished trade ins at the stores and I bet they have a unique serial # to identify they are a refurbished phone. So be careful what you accept as a trade in at stores if it's a plain white box it's refurbished.

While I am not saying that I would accept a defected phone, but you know that Apple has a one year warranty on their products without apple care, right?
Your right but after a year and the power button is still rattling we know after a yr is when everything happens so if it gets worse after a yr and Apple decides not to fix it but give you another phone at the store, it's most likely going to be a refurbished unit not brand new.

if you use the warranty after 2 weeks do you get a refurbished phone or a new one?

It honestly depends on what they have, if they have refurbished phones then that is what you will get.

There's really nothing wrong with refurbished products either, generally less problems from them and you keep your warranty.

Got mine today. Simply loving it! I upgraded from an iPhone 5 that was walking on its last legs. Touch ID is very convenient, no lag, just a great device!

I ordered a gold one and it's ready for pickup and now I'm second guessing if I should cancel the order and go for silver. Hate the indecisiveness. But I'm tired of waiting so I think I will go for the gold. :)

I had to order from Sprint because I'm on an old legacy plan (that I wish to keep). Ordered a 64gb space grey on the 31st that was supposed to ship this week. I chatted with customer support yesterday to see if there was any news and she said that Sprint is now scheduled to receive them at the end of next week. :( :( :(

I thought I'd mentioned it in case anyone else checks this thread who's ordered from Sprint.

Turns out my iPhone SE is being delivered tomorrow instead of next week! Thanks Apple! So excited.

EDIT: It's already delivered. But I have to wait until after school (~4pm) to receive it myself.

After waiting for over a week (the phone has been available for pickup since the 14th!) because I wasn't sure if I wanted silver or gold (gold is what I had ordered), I ended up caving in and just picked up the gold one.

It's a lot faster than my 5s and I also enabled wifi calling. I had to call AT&T to do that because the phone wouldn't let me do it. The AT&T rep said it's because I'm using the SIM from my old device. Anyway, after about 15 min of time with AT&T I have it working.

I do find that the body has a slightly more textured feel than the 5s and and is also a bit yellower (both attributes of the 6s as well).

The speaker quality does not seem to be as good as the 5s, but it's still acceptable.

I don't seem to have any yellow bands, but I definitely do have buttons that rattle very noticeably. But it doesn't bother me.

Hopefully there'll be no major bugs/issues and I will hold on to it beyond the 2 week return period! I have had bad luck with my last 2 purchases -- a rMB which froze while setting up, and a 6s that had some weird defect that would cause the screen to flash while checking voice mail.

Even ordering from Apple is 2-3 weeks back order.

I know that. Just interested if anyone ordered with 4-6 wks, and got it sooner.

It's a Bday gift for a guy who still uses a flip-phone (really.) If it arrives a week or two after Bday, not a big deal. If any stores near me had one in stock, I would have just bought one, but since I have to order anyway, went with T-mo for the 0% and no effect on my credit card.

I'm going on a trip next week and was hoping to pick up an SE before then. Gah now they're all on back order. Anyone have any luck with T-Mobile stores having them?

Interesting, yesterday estimated T-mo SE ship time was 4-6 weeks, today it's 2-4 weeks.

Check Costco.com ... looks like they have a good supply.
I had mine within 48 hours of ordering.

I just gave up and picked up a 6S for my trip. The 6 Plus was too big for me. I have 2 more upgrades this year so I may pick up the SE when it's more available.

i ordered today from apple... 64gb space grey... it says 2-3 weeks...

do you know if they ship sooner or will the 2-3 weeks real from the online apple store? :(

I'd assume it's really going to be 2-3 weeks. They could technically ship sooner, but I doubt it.

I got the iPhone SE two days ago. I get off work at midnight. When I got home at 1:30 am I said "I'll check the availability of the SE at the Apple site. It's not going to be available, but just in case." Much to my surprise, they had the exact model I wanted at my local Apple Store (space grey 64 GB). I paid for it right then and picked it up at the store on my way to work. I installed the screen protector today (which came out crooked) and will activate it soon.

I was lucky or blessed.

I was holding on to an iPhone 4 but it isn't done yet. I managed to find an official Apple bumper while in Australia, got the glass front and back replaced on the phone, and gave it to my son.

He doesn't have a sim card but can call us on our freephone numbers and we can send him SMS messages, plus of course he has FaceTime and iMessage via Wi-Fi which is 90% of the time.

Ordered my SE from T-Mobile on Friday, est. 4-6 wks ship, changed on Sat to 2-4 wks. Just got a shipped text from T-mo with a UPS tracking no. Not bad at all. No estimated arrival date yet though.
