I pre ordered as soon as the site went live and everything went through just fine, the Apple Store app currently tells me my order is preparing to ship but UPS says there are two packages on their way already with an expected delivery date of 4/22 for both at the UPS 3 Day Select® Service level. I’m trading in my older device so one of the packages would be the iPhone itself and the other would contain the trade in kit? Another interesting thing I noticed is that both packages say they’re from the US as the origin point but every other pre order I’ve participated in normally has China as the origin point? Is it possible that UPS will simply hold on to the packages to ensure they don’t arrive until the 24th and has anyone else been able to get their tracking info yet? I did it by selecting the track by reference number feature and putting in my zip code, country and the word “iPhone” as the reference.

You won’t get th phone early.

More then likely, the phones are coming from China.
On each package it states the Origin scan is in the US tho, and the packages weigh 3.90 and 10.10 pounds but im not sure if that’s consistent with iPhone and trade in kit package weights🤷🏻‍♂️

That is interesting.

Let’s see if it arrives on the 22nd. I guess these phones were already in production and were just waiting for Apple to make them official, you may find that the phones were already shipped into the USA etc... and just sitting in a warehouse. Distribution was just waiting for the green light.

Also interesting is that the first picture shows the order was “shipped/billed on 4/16/20 but that would have to have been before pre orders began to be possible... so now it gets more confusing as to why it’s tagged iPhone and why it’s coming from the same place as the other package if it is not the iPhone... I suppose if no one else is able to get ahold of their tracking info and compare the weight of the package they see vs the one Im seeing then I’ll have to hope Apple gives me the tracking number because they’re rather slow at doing that

You will get tracking once it ships.

The search you did is not accurate. That is why it is confusing. Wait until you get the tracking number from Apple. You probably won’t see any real shipping movement until Tuesday.

is it possible my pre order has already shipped anyway and im just looking at the wrong packages until Apple gives my number finally? My card has already been charged for the iPhone, no one ive asked has had their card charged even for an authorization charge yet...

If from the U.S., perhaps it’s a precautionary measure against the virus.

“Keep the phone stored for two weeks and then announce and ship.”

My card was charged yesterday when my order changed to preparing to ship. I doubt the phones have actually shipped, yet. It is not uncommon for the orders to stay in “preparing to ship for several days. Once the orders to ship, Apple has been very good at providing tracking, which usually starts in China. And for a lot of people, the orders will head to Kentucky where they will be routed to the final destination for that zone.

You aren’t looking at your packages. That is my I said wait until you get tracking. We won’t get the phones early. No real need to constantly focus on this. You will drive yourself crazy if you do.

There is always that person who gets their phone early. Generally speaking, the carriers are told to hold the packages until Launch day, but someone always messses up. It happens every year.

While it would be cool if that happened to me this year, I dont mind receiving the package on the 24th but I would just like to find out if these ARE the packages containing my iPhone and trade in kit. Apple can take a very long time to update the status of a pre order in my experience where it is out for delivery in my town already but Apple insists it hasnt shipped yet😂 another user mentioned that the progress could only be showing US towns because the phones may have been moved from China for weeks already as a COVID-19 precaution...

If I’m understanding correctly that you just put “iPhone” as the reference, there’s about zero chance, especially given the dates and weights, that these are yours. They were probably shipments to a retailer in your zip code. The reference would need to be a unique identifier, either your phone number, order #, or order # minus the last two digits.

I tried the 3 options you suggested first and got nothing so I tried iPhone next. Do you know if filling out the “shipper account” helps in any way? And what is best to put in that space if it isn’t something like “Apple inc.”?

I think you'd need their account number. It probably didn’t return any results because it’s not far enough along in the shipping stage yet. I didn’t get any results either.
