Try restoring it.....if no luck, replacement...I guess, that's all you can do.

These things happen. If restoring doesn't fix anything, get it replaced. It's not really indicative of some widespread issue in design or manufacturing.

Pretty sure that is the light sensor - but it's reacting to having its picture taken. Think of a cat when you take a picture of their eyes...
