I just got a new iPhone se and wanted to ask others with the same phone a question...when you turn the new phone on is the battery life supposed to be on 50%? id thought it be 100% since it was sealed and new.
was your phone on 50% as well when you turned it on? I bought it from boost mobile...just curious because I wanted to know if it was used or refurbished and that's why its on 50% or this is how all new iphones are?

also... there was a tiny marked black dot on the top right corner on the plastic body holder of the phone...the plastic thing with the opened circle right in the middle of it...everyone else with the same thing?

I just found it a little unusual and wondered if that was a refurbished mark and that's why the battery life is on 50%...

yes, I know I sound a little paranoid haha but just wanted to make sure I bought a brand new phone...

I have never seen any iPhone fully charged out of the box. Lithium-ion batteries naturally deplete when not in use. It isn't abnormal that your iPhone isn't fully charged.

And the mark you're referring to, can you take a picture. It would be helpful to see what you're referring to.

ah I see...I guess im kinda slow because i did not know that...id figured since the phone was completely off and new the battery life wouldnt drain.
if you don't mind me asking...do you remember what your battery life was when you unboxed your phone?

sure, hold on a minute im going to take a pic of it now...it actually would be my first pic im taking with the phone...haha

I've purchased about 50 smart phones over the past 10 years. Some arrived dead, some arrived at 12%, some at 58%, some at 99% etc... There is nothing to worry about here OP. My most recent phone (Galaxy S8+) had 64% when it arrived.

Most my brand new iPhones when unboxed and turned on for the first time have been between 45 and 70% state of charge.

hope that's clear enough to see...its on the top right. the mark left a stain on the same spot on the back of the phone... so with the battery life being 50% and that being a marker type mark since it left a stain on the back of the phone I started to think the phone was a return or refurbished...

I believe my iPhone was charged around 70% when I unboxed it. And that Mark you're referring to in the box looks like it wouldn't be an issue of any sort. Enjoy your iPhone SE.
