iPhone SE 4 production starts in November, so the phone will be ready in time for holiday season but Apple obviously does not want the SE taking away from 16 sales, so maybe they announce in January and then release in March 2025.

Where did you read that iPhone SE 4 production is starting in November ?

I'm trying to time it so I can get a SE 3 just before the SE 4 is released.

Any speculation on what internal changes they could make to an updated Air? Could they add FaceID perhaps? Processor wise it seems powerful enough? Maybe more memory?
I don’t think that Face ID would count as an internal change.

So if the SE supports Apple Intelligence does that mean it will have 8GB RAM? So the SE can run Apple Intelligence on device but the 15 can’t? Apple really needs to find a way for older devices to support Apple Intelligence via private cloud compute.

Wow, what an incomplete rumor...

Anyways, a bit early for another new iPad Air isn't it? Unless they plan to adopt the same chassis as the new iPad Pros.
Yeah agreed - it does feel early to be upgrading the iPad Air considering it has been on a 1.5-2 year cycle for a while now. That said I could see them updating it to M4 (and basically nothing else) since the screen is really the upsell for the Pros.

Would they put M3 into the iPad Air to use up remaining M3 inventory after the MacBook Air moves to M4?

That’s a pretty safe bet.

If they do, it’ll be a subscription. But I think they’d rather have people who are interested upgrade their phone.

In could also see them downgrading to non-mini-LED.

The iPad Air being updated this soon makes absolutely no sense.
Unless they are just at the point where they want to move everything onto a 3NM process, but I honestly thought the M2 would stick around for a long time…

So… Maybe the iPad Air gets the M4 when the Pro next gets updated.

The real iPad that needs a CPU jump is the iPad 11, the current has a four year old A14. It at minimum should get the A16, but the A18 is what it deserves just like the new Mini.
I think the base iPad and the Mini will be updated in the next few weeks (before November). It will likely just be A16 for the base iPad and A18 for the Mini, some new colors and probably not much else. Not sure about the iPad Air. It does seem early based on the update cycle of the iPad Air the last few generations. Perhaps they want to retire the M2 from production by early next year and will be working on moving most of their products to chips made on N4P and N3E in the coming months. The rumor may also prove to be incorrect.

Very doubtful. The rumor is the M4 on the N3E production line is cheaper to produce (higher yield) than the M3 on the N3B production line. Don’t see Apple wanting to use older more expensive chips in any new product. Any leftover M3 are probably heading to MacBook Airs.

For now, the paywall for AI will be set at $499.
While I think you're correct as far as Apple’s intentions go, I also think that their intentions are not very good and that they simply cannot paywall AI in its current state (and by that I mean the feature set they have presented at WWDC).
First, it needs to take off, then they can introduce new features and tie them to certain processors.

Wife will be happy as she says at present there is no iPhone she could buy to replace a 13 mini.

Previous SE had woeful cameras though, so they definitely need an upgrade.

Doubt the price will be $499 either.

This makes sense for iPad Air (both sizes) to now ship with a M4 chip. There are plenty of of other innovations that only iPad Pro (both sizes) have for the professionals. Just like on iPhone lineup, let both models share the same SOC. That's huge.
