I changed two yellow SEs before I gave up and I ended up buying a 6s (they wouldn't give my money back, only a Gift Card). Now I regret giving up my 4s, which had a perfect display.

Apart from the yellow band, my SEs had other problems due to the cheap quality. The home buttons were very loud when pressed and the vibration was anything but "silent".

I wonder though why none of the professional reviews I read mentions any of these problems, especially the yellow screen... The reviewers only noticed the rattling power button, which is a complete non-issue to me. Seems like Apple has deliberately provided perfect items to the media outlets and their stores, while selling the yellow crap to its customers.

Also, in the SE's "Issues" section on MacRumors there is only one thing mentioned, "BLUETOOTH CALLS". It difficult to imagine that the editors have failed to notice all the complaints in their own forum. I'm more inclined to think that it was a decision...

On the bright side, while the yellow band seems to be unfixable, the screen's yellow tint can be fixed easily without the need of a jailbreak: http://applelives.com/adjust-color-temperature-iphone-screen-using-gamma-thingy.html

I tried it on my 6s, which has the yellow tint too, and it worked like magic! :)

yea my old 4S definitely felt better built and the panel they used was perfect. i don't know if Apple is just using bottom of the barrel panels this time around.. maybe old leftovers that didn't make the cut from the 5 series, but i wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.. and would explain the cheaper feeling home button as well since they're in the same housing. Apple can justify it to themselves with the lower asking price.. But it just sucks knowing that similar and cheaper priced phones out there don't have the same QA issues. a bunch of youtube reviewers did mention the yellow screen, but only few of the printed ones did. again, i wouldn't be surprised that those review units were pre-screened. like i mentioned above, it took 2 mins for the Apple store tech to identify the panel defect, so it seems like this falls under their QA testing.

thanks for that link. i'm sure others would find it helpful as well. tho Apple should really have that feature baked into the OS.

My SE had a really visible yellow band at the top and they repaired it at an Apple Store. The new screen was certainly better but there's still some yellowing at the top compared to the rest of the screen. In many instances, it's virtually invisible but I can still see it on predominantly white screens.

Would you say that your repaired screen is perfect now? I'm wondering if I should try another repair.

I returned mine because of yellow strip on the top and never looked back.. SE is cheapo:( thx tim
