I had really wanted the 11 pro max. I went to swappa to look and all the mint phones are going for at least 800. Then tax and swappa fee. Am I crazy as who is paying that?? Am I wrong in thinking that if I’m spending 8 hundy on a phone it would be a brand spanking new 12 with 5g capability over a used 11 max? How are they still that high?

Yes I noticed that - the used market has escalated since the pandemic, similar to used Mac devices.

I just sold my 11 (regular) 64GB for $500 on Offerup locally so I was quite happy not to deal with the trade in bill credits and digital rebates, etc...

I got the 12 Pro for $500 less so it' half price - all paid for and not tied to an 30 month EIP...

Yes, I'm going to sell my XS on Swappa as soon as I buy a 12.
It seems as if they're also going for fairly high prices, considering the XS is 2 years old.

Swappa fee is in the selling price. It depends on your wants and needs. If you want the bigger screen and telephoto lens, the 11 Pro max might be a decent deal although $800 seems a little steep unless it's not the base storage.

Be careful as the buyer has more leverage than the seller.
The buyer can make a claim months down the line and get his/her money back.

I'd use OfferUp app - it's more safe and allows you to meet at a carrier for security reasons...

I used OfferUP and the buyer was verified (FB, email, Phone) and met him at a T Mobile store where there are cameras and the buyer verified the phone was unlocked after inserting his SIM card.
Cash in my hand and paid for 50% of the 12 Pro I had picked up at the Apple Store...

Yeah if he uses offer up definitely do all of these things as that app and Craigslist is FULL of scammers. Often you can tell, when you see the 240 dollar iphone 11’s for example but not always. The other thing is how do you tell a phone is payed off? That is something that worries me.

This reminds me why I do the iPhone Upgrade Program with Apple... yes, I could get more value doing private sale. But guaranteed 50% trade in every year with zero risk is well worth it if you like to upgrade annually.

Its not apple but I got.$1000 off my ultra. And I plan on getting the mini full price but the FORCE lol is pulling me to buy the max at retail. Whats a good optoin?

That's why you both meet at the carrier store.
Both parties can check the status of the phone and confirm there is no "hold" by the seller or carrier.

My 11 sold for $500 at the TMO store and both parties walked out satisfied!

Nice, I was wondering what people were successfully getting for used 11's, as I will likely be selling mine if I get the Mini in a couple weeks and am happy with it.

On eBay, they go for around $500+
But you lose about 12% in fees.

I decided to sell it locally because it was in pristine condition - no scratches, no cracks, no abuse.....

$500 went towards the $1000 + tax iPhone 12 Pro - fully paid for so I am happy I don't have a 30 month EIP or 24 month Apple card debt....

It is a question of your preferences... do you find value in a larger screen/better camera set/better battery (etc. for the differences between the pro and mini), or do you prefer the smaller design on the mini?

Additionally price is something to consider.
