This is cool -- http://www.inyourfaceusa.com -- although charging $30 in a 99-cent-app world suddenly seems steep, particularly since the pillow and the crab are at least $20 cheaper. And, of course, the binder clips are free (assuming your office still provides them FOC).

Just ordered the moviewedge after all the positive comments here on the board. I have the Seskimo Crabble which is a great little stand, but I find that it tends to move when I set it on top of the treadmill. Seems like a bean bag will be a little more resistant to "crawling" with the vibration.

Thanks for the great idea!

Update 9/3: Received my moviewedge today and will it is a very simple concept, I amvery impressed! Definitely works best in the landscape orientation, but it does portrait okay. I want this for video watching, so it's the perfect solution for me. Bravo moviewedge!!

I thought I liked the binder clip solution. I reached into my desk, grabbed a couple and after getting the bend right set my iPhone in it and sure enough, seems to work good. I scroll down a bit more and see this post and had to try it out. I was just at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago and have a room key in my wallet still so I took it out, bent up the key and now think this is even better. Its a free solution and its virtually nothing to store the stand. THANKS!!!

My suggestion ends up looking like a business card holder, but it's much cheaper. And I didn't invent it, I found the solution online.

Take a thick plastic card (e.g. hotel key, club card, expired credit card, etc). You can fold it up to look like the business card holder in the post above. Two folds: One about 1/3 of the way from the top (1 1/4"), the other about 1/2" from the bottom (card held vertically). The two get folded in opposite directions.

Voila, instant iPhone holder. The best part is that you can lay it basically flat when you're done, making storage much easier.

I travel quite a bit for work. I have been using the same hotel key for at least 6 months. Refolding it every time I use it hasn't worn it out yet.

Hope this helps!

This is our product. We sell in airport retail shops around the world.

hope you enjoy!

Has some merit, but I can imagine the guy in the seat ahead of me moving the seat back and forth, or me needing to use the table for my meal. Some seatbacks are further away and not suitable for such a small screen. I'd probably pass on the "seat buddy" without a personal review. I have nothing to do with moviewedge, but I love it and I've been telling everyone to try it!

Tried the "room key" stand

What a simple solution! I'll do this whenever I forget my movie wedge. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best!

Batteries on the flight.

How do you guys manage to get so much battery time on a flight, as i see most of the people here do watch movies on their iPhone when in a flight, i am am hardly able to keep my phone working for around 90 minutes or less when i am 100% charged. This is a new phone i brought last month.

I finally got around to trying the binder-clip stand in the Instructables link earlier in the thread. I'm not sure if I was screwing-up or if my office's binder clips are a different shape, but I could not get the interior clip to sit at the downward angle like is shown. Just FYI in case anyone is thinking of buying clips to build a stand: make sure they work in the store before you buy them.

Next up is trying the paperclip stand. It won't be as convenient since it doesn't fold flat, but the price is right :D

It's awesome!!! (Easily rotate to landscape and portrait). I got mines off of eBay a while back but you can also purchase it directly from http://www.xtand.net/

I don't understand why anyone would buy this. It's expensive, and the exact opposite of something portable. Personally, I like the seskimo crabble the best. Anyone reading this should watch Blunty3000's review video of it. There are some pretty funny parts.
