iPhone Static?!

Recently when I've been using my iPhone 2g ( oow 🙁 ) I've been getting slight static shocks, but they're not just quick sharp ones, they carry on, I was just on the phone now, and got one on my ear, and it killed 🙁
Is there anything I can do?
