iPhone stolen - can I trust remote wipe?

I thought the remote wipe doesn't work if the device is running iOS 5 or newer and is jailbroken. The device will restart to an Apple logo. But if both buttons are pressed so that it restarts, it'll restart as normal.

I never knew that.
So you cant remote wipe a JB device?
I think I will test it out with a spare iphone 4 I got laying around.

You're the one that told me. I tested it out with my jailbroken iPhone 3Gs. You get the same results with the remote wipe as you do with the reset device in the Settings app.

Apple should install a video record in addition to erase so owner can zero in the bastards even though we can't find them right away.

No,
Apple should turn stolen iOS devices and Macs into beautiful paperweights if you choose so.
