My iphone has 64 gig data. It usually sits around 37 gig used. I haven’t changed my usage much at all but I looked today and its shot up to 59 gig!

My apps arent even really taking up much data but I’ve found that the culprit is the “other” section which is 25 gig!

I looked online and it said to clear my safari history which I’ve done and it hasn’t even put a dent in it. I don’t have loads of messages or mails (hardly any) so I have absolutely no idea what’s happened here.

Any ideas?

That’s strange. My 256GB mini has less than 10GB used by 'other'...

I'd recommend PhoneClean, but fair warning, if you downloaded any videos from iTunes, like TV Episodes or Movies you'll need to redownload them, for some reason whenever I use it, it makes my TV Shows & Movies unplayable, get an error, delete, and redownload, then I'm fine, but annoying as hell. Wish Apple would make it easier to clear the pesky Other storage issues. Right now I have Zero KBs taken up on my 512GB XS Max, needless to say, I'm patiently awaiting a 1TB iPhone, hoping 2021 is the year, just hope if they do a 1TB, & do take the lightning port out, they'll at least have some sorta smart connector that allows for data transfer, I'd hate to have to redownload my 500GB+ of TV Shows, plus I'd have no option to have videos I downloaded off of Vimeo(I bought Transformers G1 Complete Series for like $50 way back when they had it), plus I use my iPhone to back up some excel files. Just hoping they do add something that allows for syncing/transferring via a Mac or PC like the MacRumors page suggests as a possibility due to Apple likely taking out the port all together on 1 of the models, guessing the 6.7 Inch model, which is what I want, can't go back down to a smaller screen.

Anyway, try PhoneClean, you do have to buy it, no free software I've seen or used works like that does, just have to run it.

On my 128GB mini, I am using 22GB of 128GB with system being 7.08GB and other being 6.39GB being.

It sounds like you may have a lot of cache files stored on your phone from various apps on your phone.

Strangely I woke up this morning and it’s dropped 10 gig. Il give it another day or so and see what happens. Otherwise I’ll try that phone clean or just reset the phone.

The only “unusual” thing I’ve done recently is change the privacy settings for my photos. It was originally set to full access for about 5 apps which I then changed them all to selected access. I then realised that it was a pain and changed it back to full access for the 5apps. I wonder if that might have something to do with it? I’m not sure why it would though.

So you gave five apps full access to photos to process/steal data from, and they due to the change in settings thought they hadn't seen the pics before; and got to process them all, eating up all that fun location data etc to track where you've been. Stuff like that takes memory. 🤷

Luckily haven’t experienced the other storage bug, you’d think by now apple would of got their **** together and fixed it.
