iPhone survives, but is it safe to use?

Hi all,

My wife dropped an iPhone (model:4s) through the gap between a lift (US:elevator) and the building. The phone fell from the 9th floor and it was in a wallet-style case.

Maintenance retrieved the iPhone from the cavity below the lift, in one of the basements, so the iPhone has fallen 10+ floors and survived. It is now charging again.

Could the battery be damaged and unsafe? We have insurance against accidental damage - but the front and back of the iPhone remain in mint condition..

Take it in to Apple and have them check it. The check is free and Apple will do nothing without your written consent.

Lucky escape especially the brittle iPhone 4. Glad it's ok. I think it'll be fine as the wallet saved it

Glad that the phone seems to have survived an amazing fall. Now on a lighter note. Would have been cool if the video camera had got knocked on and filmed the fall. Would have made for one hell of a commercial for Apple.
