Can't see the problems. Most probably because I was focusing on other things, can you post more of those pics focusing on the problem with long hair strands, I want to check on it in depth and help you out with a detailed analysis.

Lol right.

But I agree though. I was more impressed with the outcome of my photos on my iPhone 5 than I am on the iPhone 6. Way too much water color affect on the finished photos when viewed on anything but the phone.
It was quite disappointing when I noticed it was EVERY less than direct sunlight shot I took, which WAS NOT the case on my iPhone 5.

The 6s has a ****** camera. Front and back. I can never get a crisp shot from the back camera unlike when I used my S6.
But then again phone cameras are not meant to replace real cameras.

Read the second post you quoted. The aggressive noise reduction wouldn't be needed if the camera phone Sensors weren't inheritly bad in less than great light. So yes, in the end it does boil down to the Sensor.
Depends. The iPhone 5s showed more noise, but also more detail because it doesn't have the agressive noise reduction.

I don't like it much either. (Especially when I normally shoot with a Canon 1D X.) So hopefully the camera modules are better in the 7. (7 Plus should definitely be better if the rumour of the dual lens happens.)

It's not the module, it's the software.

If it was iOS though then the 5s would have gotten just as bad when iOS 8 was introduced for the iPhone 6.

Also what I meant by the 7 possibly being better is that if its performance is greatly improved as it's rumoured to be (especially the dual lens) then it wouldn't need such extreme levels of noise reduction.

I am no photo expert so just asking. I took this at work. Seems detailed to me and better than my eyes see it. Desk top granite look is detailed and lettering on bottle and barcode clear. Thea area is also shaded somewhat from the vertical part of the desk. My old eyes need to expand it on iPhone to read all words. Doesn't seem "muddy". Just curious if everyone has this indoor quality issue.

What was the exposure time and ISO?

In Preview.app, cmd-I or Tools-->Show Inspector, then hit the EXIF tab. Somewhere along the way, a program or webserver seems to have stripped the EXIF information from your picture. I'm interested in "ISO Speed Rating" and "Exposure Time". (or similar wording) The rest isn't relevant.

(I should note that there are understandable reasons for stripping out EXIF information-- phones tend to put GPS info in there.)

[doublepost=1454984463][/doublepost]Here's another pic of hair. Not mine, I would have less lol

I just held it close to head in a mostly dark room. Hairs are well defined. Too much flash though. Washes natural color out.

OK-- that explains it. On an Iphone 6s, ISO 25 is pretty much the best the camera can do. ISO 40 is marginally less "perfect"
The photos with the paint-like effects have ISOs in the 400-800 range. That's 5-6 "stops" less light than these two flash assisted photos.

When using my DSLR, I don't worry about ISO 800. I start to get picky about ISO 1600, when chroma noise starts to come into play. My camera doesn't have the largest sensor, and it came out in 2010, so about two to three generations behind.

(Doubling the ISO means that the camera is twice as sensitive to light. Photographers generally adjust shutter speeds, apertures, and, yes ISOs in terms of stops, ot the doubling or halving of light. ISO 12800 is merely one stop better than ISO 6400)

I've seen videos of photographers getting excited about the creative possibilities of a "clean" ISO 12800 (Handheld shots with a long telephoto at a rock concert)-- but the D4s is large, very expensive camera.

The creative limitations associated with not being able to use ISO 400-- ok, you don't have to deal with the reciprocal rule--mean that you just can't photograph certain things.

I recommend manual focus. gives better pictures than auto, also manual iso and shutter speed helps

Hope this helps :)

It seems that iOS 9.3 might improve hero the camera works in that respect.
