How come my phone rings once when I get the message and then again 10 minutes later if I don't open the message? How do I turn this off?

You can't turn it off.

yes... exactly... and i dont know whether i've received one or two messages...
okay that sounds more easy to detect than it really is.
One of the recent firmware updates (not sure which anymore) added the second notification for unopened text messages. Before that happened, people were complaining that one notice wasn't enough. Just goes to show you can't please everyone!
I did read on here recently that you don't have to actually open the message to kill the reminder, just touch the home or power button when the message arrives.
I dont know why people are having problems with this in class...just turn off the phone, anyways the vibrate is terrible so it shouldn't be noticeable.
