iPhone 15 Pro Max iPhone Titanium: quality or disappointment?

I’m puzzled as to why the Apple engineers in charge of materials, who probably earn $100,000+ annually, aren’t performing their job adequately. Who greenlights this level of quality? Do they not perform thorough testing beforehand?

I was just about to pre-order the new iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I’ll hold off until the reviews become available.

I can only imagine that 100's of people picked up those phones to do their stories and check out the new features. I don't think that it's a fair comparison to say the materials used are low quality. As with previous phones, a quick wipe down with a damp cloth usually does the trick of keeping the phone clean. And this is me saying this because I don't use a case.

Time and personal usage will tell how well the Ti phones hold up for those who don't use a case.

A lot of people seem to be hung up on this one set of images from an event attendee. Tons of previews from the event that showed the devices and colors did not have this issue. This clearly looks like the device was heavily manhandled by tons of people, and this “reviewer” couldn’t take two seconds to wipe down their device before shooting content. I haven’t seen a single video preview from the event where the phones looked this bad. Most of the phones looked clean and crisp. Likely because better quality content creators can take two seconds to wipe a phone down before shooting a video and hundreds of photos.

Stop hyper-fixating on a nothing burger problem.

All my stainless steel phones get ugly like that with fingerprints. I either have to wipe them down or put them in a clear case if I want to see them look nice.

And your photo shows nothing of inadequate engineering. It shows skin oils on metal.

The back glass on the 15 Pro Max breaks extremely easy, unlike the 15 Pro. But hey it will only cost you $200 to get it fixed. I really don't understand why they used Titanium instead of sticking with Aluminum. They could have lowered the prices by keeping Aluminum. Yes, Titanium is lighter and stronger but no one has ever said an Aluminum iPhone was heavy or bent easily. Besides, most people get a new iPhone every 2 to 4 years.

I mean, once you’ve handled the phone for a while you don’t really notice it anymore since it’s all uniformly darker at that point.
