16GB is the best selling iPhone for one reason - because it is the cheapest iPhone.

If 32GB was the base storage for the iPhone then that would be the best selling iPhone.

Most people just want an iPhone and for the cheapest price they can get.

I like to keep my phone light (only ~27 apps, 7G free) It's fast and battery lasts a couple days. I keep apps on the iPad and iPod so I'm not really missing out with only 16.

At first, I hated this idea because I didn't fully understand what this meant lol.. My bad. At first I thought you guys meant drop the 32GB model AND price, forcing you to either spend 199$ or 399$, now that would royally tick me off, I need 32GB for an iPhone. I get by with 16GB just fine on my iPad, because I don't take pictures with it really. Photos really build up though on an iPhone because obviously, it is way better for pictures so..

I don't take much pics or videos so I get by on 16 GB just fine. And when I do take pics and vids I easily transfer them to my Mac.

If they drop the 32GB in favor for the 64GB and keep the price the same then I'm all for that, as i only buy the 32GB versions.

But it be more logical to scrap the 16GB version and offer 32GB,64GB & 128GB.

Hmmm copy and paste is at foot here lol.

This
If you buy the iPhone off contract is VERY expensive, so almost everyone go for the 16GB.

If they sold 32GB as base model everyone would go for that.
Anyway they can sell 16,32,64 and 128 as they do with the iPad, it would be the most rewarding choice for them.

$199 price point consists of people who just want an iPhone and won't care about 16GB

$299 price point is for people who want more storage than base

$399 price point is for those who want the maximum storage

Those who bought 32GB at $299 will buy 64GB at $299
Some who bought 64GB at $399 will move down to $299
Others who bought 64GB at $399 will graduate to 128GB at $399

Offering 16/64/128 would be a pretty good move, only one small group of customers will move down from $399 to $299, everyone else stays where they are.

Going 32/64/128 just does too much shifting customers over...

a youtuber, i forget who, made a compelling argument in one of his videos about how 16gb and 32gb phones without upgradable storage (sd cards) are getting to the point where its just not enough anymore. If the 32gb model drops, i hope prices dont scale accordingly.

It all depends on personal use. Even 16 GB are plenty enough for quite a few people.

I agree. I am not a heavy app user but my photo library has been growing throughout the years, since iPhone 3G, 16GB has been enough for me.
