Anyone chime in on what things you do or don't need to do to setup your new iPhone coming from a previous iPhone.
1. For me I backed up my iPhone 7 Plus to iTunes (though you can use iCloud too).
2. When I activated the iPhone X it prompted me to transition iCloud settings via NFC or Bluetooth.
3. But when I told it to restore from an iTunes Backup (7 Plus was on 11.1, X was on 11.0.1) I had to update the X to 11.1 and then do the restore.
4. After the restore since iTunes 12.7 no longer stores apps, all the apps were synced over the air.
5. iTunes did copy all my photos, health data, message history, and most of my apps that had passwords could log in still, even using Face ID now instead of Touch ID right away. Not 100% across the board though.
6. iTunes did not copy any music strangely though in pass upgrade transitions it has. So not sure what is going on there. All in all my entire App layout, all apps, all messages, voicemails, etc. all moved over with the exception of my music.
As for the things not transferred over that are device specific and will require me to redo:
1. All Bluetooth pairings. 😡 This is never fun. As I have about 12.
2. Apple Watch. Must be unpaired from original iPhone and then paired to new iPhone.
3. All Apple Pay credit cards and other 'passbook' wallet cards, such as Starbucks, Qdoba, Ikea family, any future Fandango and Flash seat tickets, any future airline boarding passes.
4. The transition setup my home wifi network, but I believe my work network and any other saved networks may need to be rejoined next time I attempt to get on.
I believe that is it for the list. If you have any other experiences or info, post it below and I will update my list.
Thanks.
