Two questions. I did an iPhone to iPhone transfer.

What items can I lose by doing this type of transfer?
Does it LITERALLY transfer everything?

(Side question: I got the 256 because my 128 was low on memory. How much memory is dedicated to the iOS, so I can see how memory I actually used)

For me, absolutely everything transferred over, including passwords and logged-in states — with the exception of financial apps; had to log in again for those. It did take 3 hours though. 3 hours I couldn’t use either phone.

Transferred everything for me besides Google Authenticator. I had to manually export from my old phone and import into my new phone.

Mine appeared to only game an hour to 45 minutes. That’s from 11 6.1 to 13 5.4 and I had about 115gbs that switched over…
Did you have way more memory and maybe that’s why yours took so long?

Never used that.
I was surprised! It seems I have everything ready to transfer

Bluetooth pairing with your Bluetooth devices will be lost. You’ll need to enter their PIN again to access them.

Ok thanks. Anything else that may be lost?
(I don’t use iCloud)
I did do a back up to my MacBook however I did not sync it once I realized I can do the iPhone transfer.

Some sensitive login need to redo. Other than that it’s great. It has all the cookies transferred as well (eg: web browser cache)

Went from 12 Pro to 13 Pro with the phone to phone transfer (maybe the 3rd or 4th time for using the phone to phone transfer) and far and away (IMO) it does the best job of transferring everything. Many apps made the transfer and stayed logged in and ran exactly as they had been running on the old phone. Credit cards in the wallet were not enabled and I had to go through them to enter the CVV number again as that didn't transfer. Other financial sites I had to log into again and in some cases enable facial ID again. A very few were missing the passwords and I had to re-enter it the first time accessing the app.

I decided to do the direct transfer this time. Though slower virtually everything (except finance apps/wallet) came over. iCloud is very good too but this seemed even better

Yeah I’m just satisfied all my pics/vids/notes/apps/messages/calls/favorites move over

I did the transfer yesterday. I was on 15 on my 12 Pro. Figured I was in 15 on the 13 Pro. Doubled checked….I am on 15.0. Woke up this morning and there is a software indicator to iOS 15. 🤔 It doesn’t say 15.1. But it does say it’s a fix for widgets and security issues. Everyone think it’s ok to install?

First time using transfer to transfer from 12PM to 13PM. Took about 1 hour. This option has gotten better throughout the years. Really smooth. Glad everything transferred correctly. Had to re log in on some apps but very minor.

I tried to transfer directly, but the time estimate was 8 hours, and it wasn’t lowering that estimate after a couple of hours, so I went with iCloud.

How long did direct transfer take for you?

Yes, it's fine. It's an updated build of iOS15 that addresses some bugs.

I have one issue with the transfer. After it was completed, my iCloud storage shows my old iPhone 12 Pro back up is 16 GB. It says this backup was used to transfer your data from your old device to your new iPhone it will be automatically deleted once all your data is restored to your new device. Ok, my data has been restored to my new device but the 16 GB of data is still taking up my 50 GB of iCloud storage.

So my question is how long does it take for that 16 GB of data to get deleted? Because it’s not letting me delete it manually. Thanks.

I pleasantly surprised that the iPhone to iPhone transfer setup my eSim for me. I was expecting that I would have had to do that as a separate step.

I had to call in to activate my phone!
didn’t understand that thought just swapping the SIM cards would do and online was even a mess to get it done…
