Are you suggesting that we can trade-in/upgrade a license to kill or the holy grail, or even the continuum transfunctioner?

You're just as much of a jerk as avaloncourt, why do you have to put down someone for asking a question?

Because it's an extremely dumb question if you think about it outside of the "well I have a phone and now there's a better one so I deserve it free" bubble. I can't think of a single item off the top of my head where you get some sort of discount for owning an older model. Yes, you can trade in cars or go to a place like Game Stop for video games, but that's not getting credit for owning an older model. Apple and AT&T aren't in the used cell phone biz.

This question has also been asked a million times in the past couple of months. The only way people stop asking extremely stupid stuff (If I own a Mac, does that mean I get a discount? Can I still use the 3G iPhone if I don't live in a 3G coverage area? HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? WHEN IS IT COMING OUT?) is if some of us open up the flame-throwers.

The fact that it has no precedent is pretty much irrelevant; the release of an Apple product which required taking out a 2-year contract is also without precedent. While I also believe it is highly unlikely that any kind of trade in option will be offered, it will be interesting to see how many people do in fact shell out another £300 upwards to upgrade something they have only had for 1 year or less. That will also depend on how easy it is to simply move your existing contract over, maybe with a years extension to it.

About as much chance of you taking your iPod Classic to the Apple store and trading it in on a new Touch.

Can you take in a Macbook and trade it for a Macbook Air? Um. No.

I used to work for guy who was able to trade in his Lisa for a MacPlus (plus $2400).

Pretty sure I have a friend wanting my old iPhone for $250.00.

It'll take a little sting out of whatever the new one will cost.

If that falls through, it'll be my phone for my other ph. number.
