Definitely not impossible, but very hard. For example when I mod a GameBoy Pocket there's a short period of time where the screen is completely transparent but yet visible. The hard part is lighting the screen enough, and also cramming all of the internals into the edges of the device.

well all the renderings of this concept I've seen is like you are holding a piece of glass that is an iPhone. doesn't seem like it would be possible but neither did the iPhone we have now 10 years ago.

Should be easy enough using the rear camera. Probably have to come from a jailbreak....
