i bought an irtrans module and iredtouch for the iphone/ipod.

the irtrans is an infrared/ethernet module that connects to your network.
iredtouch sends commands through your device's wifi (local network only) to the irtrans module.

iredtouch lets you build custom remotes - as many or as large as you like, and has support for macro, multiple modules (one in each room, for instance), and for specifying a specific module for commands or macros. it even lets you copy remotes you've built to different devices.

i've installed this on all the iphone/ipod/ipads we have in the house and they all work beautifully.
the only problem so far is iredtouch is erratic when bluetooth is on, though the developer should be working on this right now.
