The only time a purchaser isn’t a “beta tester” in this case is when the product line has ended and there will be no more iterations and marginal support. 🙂

Not a good idea to presume, for some it’s lower than 5% of net yearly income. For others it’s a splurge while making adjustments to expenditure in other areas of their life. People who are able to afford this phone are not the same people looking to buy the Pro, regular model or e model phones.

Relative had many issues with iPhone 17, does that make them a beta tester. Unless Apple continues to keep release the same phone every year without chip, ram and other upgrades then everyone is beta testing a new product and some products on the market for many years also have issues. Got to step away from perfectionism.

I think the current pricing environment could seriously hamper what was already going to be somewhat tough/unique sell.

They will sell plenty of them, but whether "plenty" = "enough for Apple" will very much be in question I think.

After the 17 was released, eBay was selling them for $500 over asking price and they were selling fast. Makes no sense but it happens.

People are so over obsessed with some of this stuff.

Now I can "unfold" my phone and do the same things I've been doing on iPhones for a decade.
SO worth the thousands of dollars. lol

Money is no object to some. When I purchase my fold it’s like the equivalent of someone buying coffee at 7-11. On sale. With a buy 1 get one free. On Black Friday. During prime days.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I like where your head is at. That said. I’m almost certain that’s why everyone will buy this phone. Because they want to be flashy. Not to have a tool they could utilize to make day to day work related tasks easier. That would be so silly.

Well, good luck to the US Beta testers… not for me btw. Because the combo of an iPhone an iPad is much more appealing and probably even cheaper for me.
That being said: I‘m pretty sure the rather bad reception of the AppleVision might be connected to that staggering release… the hype or rather lack there off might be connected. I think if they has waited a couple of month and receive world wide media coverage, the Apple Vision might have fared better. Same goes for a $2400 plus smartphone only available in the US… people in Europe or China will simply buy their iPhone Pro and be done with it… especially once the usual suspects start talking: To heavy, to clunky, bad camera setup and maybe some „Gate“…

Here's one thing I would say though. Apple Support is fantastic. I never had an issue where I couldn't walk into a store and walk out with a replacement same day for a failure of some sort.

Whereas, Samsung, Google, etc. you have to send the phone in, they deem if it is covered etc. blah blah

So if I were gonna beta test a device, it would definitely be this for that simple fact alone.

Some sources are suggesting that Apple products could arrive later this year with price increases of up to 28% due to tariffs and taxes. If that happens, I think the combination of a very high price and potentially lower specifications could seriously hurt Apple's foldable.

Meanwhile, Samsung, Google, and Xiaomi are already offering aggressive discounts on their foldables, making Apple's entry into the market even more challenging.

Absolutely.
At the end of the day, this is an iPhone, which basically sells itself.

Apple themselves have struggled to articulate cogent and consistent visions (pun intended) for what & who the Vision Pro is for.

It’s wild to me how people throw around good luck beta testers like it’s some kind of insult. Every new product category has to start somewhere. The first iPhone had plenty of early adopters who were essentially “beta testers” by today’s definition.

Being an early adopter is simply a risk vs reward decision. I’m confident enough in the potential upside of a foldable iPhone that I’m willing to take that risk and I have the discretionary income to do it. If you don’t have the desire or the money to take that risk, that’s completely fine.

But acting like people who are interested in new technology are idiots for buying first generation products is a pretty anti innovation mindset. Progress happens because people are willing to adopt new ideas before they’re perfected. Sitting on the sidelines until every flaw has been ironed out is perfectly reasonable but pretending that makes you smarter than the people willing to jump in early is just shortsighted.
