iPhone unlock on orange?

My contract was up on orange so i renewed it and upgraded from a 4 to a 5. I contacted orange to unlock the 4 and they charged me £20.

I've been told it should have been free since the contract was up, is this correct/incorrect before i complain?

If contract is up it should be free, but maybe that depends on the country.

That's entirely correct.

Orange charges £20.42 for an unlock regardless of whether the contract has expired or not.
