iPhone Unlocks. iPhone Unlocks everywhere?

Hello guys.
One friend bought one iPhone 5 for me.
It's an ATT "locked"
I live in Brazil and he will bring me that next week. How should i proceed to unlock the device to be used here?

Should him activate with an ATT SIM and so restore the iPhone?

Thanks and have a nice week!

Yes, he can activate it with any AT&T sim.
And then all you need to do is go to ebay and pay $3-4 to have it unlocked.
Just send your money and your IMEI number and you'll be ok.

Thank you, man.

If it's not ask for too much, i noticed that unlock_fusion has a lot of different listings. Can you tell me exactly which one will unlock my iPhone?

Once again, thank you and sorry for my bad english.

Trying to unlock my iPhone...

I went to check my IMEI number per unlock_fusion and got this message:

"Sorry! This phone is not locked to AT&T USA"

Also, my iPhone is still under contract until 11/2013. Will that be a problem as well?

Please let me know!

Thanks so much! =)

Got the same message here. Could it mean the phone is already unlocked?

It's not a prob if its under contract.
What carrier is it locked to? Hope AT&T right?

Oh, cool! I'm pretty sure it's AT&T. Unless there are other carriers that have SIM slots besides AT&T and T-Mobile. :p

Lol:)
Best way to check would be to get a Tmobile sim and stick it in.
Some times the check sites or congrats message on iTunes don't verify correct.

I'll test it out right now and report back! :)

So, I turned off the iPhone, put in the T-Mobile SIM. Restarted and now it has 4 bars and says iPhone must be activated.

Looks good.
Congrats.

I get this when I try to activate:

SIM Not Valid

Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card.

Damn it. No congrats then:D
It's locked.
Did you buy the unlock yet?

Bought an old iPhone 3gs on ebay, and AT&T with their usual awful customer support refused to unlock it (big surprise there). Paid $4 on ebay and now it's unlocked, nice price, but to be honest, AT&T should have done it for me for free since I am an AT&T customer, but I wanted it unlocked for international use.

Went Verizon on my ipad4, and going verizon on my next phone as well, cba anymore with this p|ss poor customer support.

Up to you.
There's many sellers to choose from.
I already did a bunch of unlocks with U.F. and they all went smooth and fast.

Haha, will do it with them, considering a good amount of users have had previous successes with them! Thanks for your help, my friend! :)

I'll report back as soon as I get this thing working (or not working :p)!

So for some reason they cant unlock your AT&T iphone?
You're 100% its locked to AT&T right?
I dont get it. They unlocked all my AT&T iphones with no problems within hours.
At least they're letting you know and refunding your money so you're not out anything.

Yeah, I don't understand why? When I go to Settings > General > About > Carrier says AT&T 13.0
The phone is 100% AT&T since it came from a friend of mine, who's under an AT&T plan. Plus, when I opened the tray, there's an AT&T SIM card in there. The phone is activated through the old SIM as well. Although, there is no service, of course.

That's very weird.
If it was a verizon i5 it would have worked with Tmobile with no problems. So we can rule that out.
And if it was locked to another carrier it wouldnt have worked or activated with AT&T.
Its a mystery:D
