So I just recently (today) paid off my iPhone X with citizens over the phone. The phone was bought through the iPhone upgrade program. At the time I had ATT but no contract. I recently switched to T-Mobile and now the phone has been collecting dust as I have had the iPhone XS Max.

My question is if the X is already unlocked, meaning I can go ahead and sell it? or do I have to do some sort of unlocking procedure with a carrier? There is no SIM in it now and I have no contacts with any carrier.

If your phone was bought through the iUP, it is definitely unlocked out of the box when you first got it. So you are free to sell it.

Like the previous post said, you can sell it. I had a similar scenario with an iPhone 8 Plus. Sold it and new owner simply popped a t mobile SIM card and it was good to go.
