I am sure this has been discussed but i haven't really seen anyone address this in the threads ive been in so i am just going to throw it out there and hope this is useful for others.

I have been struggling with the decision of apple program vs. verizon monthly payment program for a week or so now, both are available to me tomorrow. The one thing that is keeping me from saying the apple program is the way to go is the fact that AppleCare does not cover lost or stolen phone (where as Verizon insurance does with a 200$ deductible).

I've never lost an iphone, i have had 1 stolen in London before, and my wife had one ripped out of her hands in the city years ago. this seems like a real concern, would suck to have a payment on a phone u no longer have (esp at 1000$ for the 128gb +).

thoughts?

Does your credit card have that protection? I found out mine does. Worth a call.

If I were in your spot I would continue to pay Sprint my $13/month for insurance (same company as Verizon uses) with the $200 deductible.

I can afford the monthly payments and I can afford the deductible if I lose the phone or it's stolen. I cannot afford the cost of a new phone outright if it's lost or stolen and I have no insurance.

Not everyone has a credit card or a large enough credit limit.

this is what i am thinking. continue the 10 bucks per month with VZ and get the phone through apple. 120 in a year doesnt make a difference, but 1000 for a new phone would.
