iPhone 11 Pro Max Iphone Upgrade Program question , switching carrier?

I'm on the iphone upgrade program , currently with at&t. I have the iphone 11 pro max and have the iphone 12 pro max on pre order with at&t. Are these phones unlocked? If I activate my phone onto my at&t account, but decide to switch to tmobile , would I be able to? Thanks!

Yes, you will have to activate the phone under the line you ordered it, but then you can switch carriers.

Yes. My XS Max was purchased through T-Mobile and is unlocked which I’m using on Verizon.

The only locked phones are the one’s you finance through the carrier themselves. Anything you buy directly from Apple is unlocked.
