I know I've been seeing a lot people talk about holding out on the 2019 iPhones for the 2020. Anticipation is definitely a little bit lower this year but I'm sure Apple will still have some surprises for us. Will anyone in the iPhone Upgrade Program be upgrading this year? I first enrolled with the iPhone X and upgraded to the XS Max with only a $3 difference.

Will you upgrade to the 2019 iPhone for a couple dollars extra?

....not me!

This is my second year on the program - first was from iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 Plus and then from 8 plus to my current XS.

If I am 100% honest, the new designs (if they are to be believed!) with their massive square camera lense are truly FUGGLY :eek: so I for one will 100% NOT be 'upgrading' this year.

Roll on 2020.....:apple:

I definitely will be upgrading regardless of what’s rumored for 2019. This way don’t get a hard it on my report because if you do a yearly upgrade it is a soft hit (well at least for me for the past few years. If I keep this for another year I would have paid it off then and if I start iup again next year then it be a hard hit.

I’m going to wait to see what the XI offers before I decide.. If it’s not enticing to me I’ll wait till the 2020 phones come out as I’m perfectly happy with my X.

Yep, new phone and brown leather every year since the 6. I feel like the leather case wasn't as durable this year. It already looks like September in years past.

Yep, that's why I signed up. It's fun for me to upgrade yearly, especially since they'll mail me the new phone instead of making me go to the Apple Store like they used to.

Usually I wait until the new phone is released before I decide. I will most likely upgrade this year. I figure if I'm paying monthly, it may as well be for the newest model.

not a fan of wasting money on iPhones ad infinitum when there's so many more fun things in life to waste money on or save up for

I won’t be upgrading.

I’m perfectly happy with my XS, so I don’t the see the sense in handing it back to Apple and agreeing to another twelve instalments when I can pay another eight instalments (UK plan) and own the phone.

If I’m enticed by the 2020 offerings, I can simply rejoin the plan or consider selling the XS and offsetting it from the cost of buying outright.

Sigh, I smashed my iPhone XR. I guess I have to update now.

I've been on the upgrade program since the 6S (First year it was available). I have upgraded every year thus far, but based on the leaks of the iPhone 11, this may be the first time I skip it. It might be nice for once paying off the phone and being able to keep my Xs as a backup if I decided to rejoin the program next year.

I joined the Upgrade Program so I can update every year. Like someone said above, if I'm paying monthly, it might as well be for the newest hardware. Plus, I really didn't love the process of selling my phone every year - too many scammers out there these days.

Yeah, I got to where I just used to sell my phone to Amazon for less to not have to worry about dealing with scumbags. I like just mailing the phone back to Apple now. I love how they give you a two week window to make sure everything is set with the new phone before you give back your old phone.

I will decide when the price is announced. I am already paying $60.33 for my XS Max and it's absolutely NOT worth it.

If the price were the same (which is doubtful as greedy as Apple has become) then yes. Otherwise no.

I have the XS and my better half has the 8 Plus. She is definitely going for the XR. I am not so sure - might do the "upgrade" also to the XR (like the idea of the slightly bigger screen and would like to see if I can go back to a LCD screen after two OLED models) and try it for the 14 day trial period before I have to turn in my XS.

I told myself a few months ago that I was skipping because of the triple camera ugly bump but who am I kidding? I’ll trade in my XSMax and keep on with the IUP and the new new.

It seems like every year people complain how ugly the upcoming iPhone is, but then everyone gets used to it.

iPhone 4- too industrial
iPhone 5- too tall
iPhone 6- ugly camera bump and ugly lines
iPhone X- ugly notch
iPhone 11- ugly square camera bump

People just don’t seem to like change. The 11 will be a nice looking phone, just like it always has been. After a while these little oval pill shaped camera bumps on the X/XS will seem antiquated.

Might as well if it's no extra cost. I got the XR on release date, so I'm paying another year anyway.

and their size man, their size....its huuuuuge.....don't fit in my pocket.

Spot on. Having to worry about some jerk doing a chargeback became too much for me. Swappa was good to me for sales, but even then nothing is 100% sure since they use PayPal. Plus the hassle of creating a listing got old.

There are two things I figure I’ll have to pay for every month since I like to have the latest/greatest, and that’s an iPhone and a car lease. Both are worth it.

iPhones 6 to X truly have a very ugly camera bump, and the square camera bump on 11, if it is as the leaks show it to be, is even uglier.

But the main reason for not upgrading this year is that this is probably the most underwhelming iPhone upgrade ever. Let's see what next year will bring.
