iPhone Users in Iran Now Unable to Access the App Store

I witnessed an Iranian smuggling operation first hand leaving from Oman. They load up boats with alcohol, cigarettes and porn and cross the bay several times a day. They’ll get shot on sight if caught, so obviously highly lucrative.

In the long run, how does isolating a country’s people from the App Store and (eventually) the internet further your cause to reduce their radicalisation? I don’t think it does, just the opposite. Apple may have their hands tied here but it makes no sense to me. I’d want them (citizens of Iran) to see the App Store and the world.

I'm not sure about the country as a whole, but in my experience Iranian immigrants from the larger cities aren't religious at all. The government's still wacky, but lately we (in the US) have our own wacky government. I guess they aren't alone there.

actually it likely is. because Apple is compelled by law to not knowing sell any products for use in Iran. if someone comes into a store to buy products and indicates they are going to be taken to Iran as their primary use location (as opposed to someone just going on vacay and bringing the phone back with them), Apple can't complete the sale.

Not only that but if Iranians fly outside of their country and want to open bank accounts the banks outside of Iran are threatened with major fines if they open any bank accounts to any Iranian nationals. Seems like everyone has to suffer in Iran over government political policy differences. They can’t buy and iPhone,download an app or open a bank account. The US following orders has implemented a North Korean rule over the Iranian people. What have the Iranian people done to anyone outside of Iran..?

Really? Name one terrorist attack done by iranians in the last 3 decades. Just one.

I can name at least 10 done by arabs from just the top of my head. An that is in the last 1-2 years.

So in other words, they are humans just like us Americans. They like their booze, their cigarettes, their porn. I understand they live under an authoritarian regime (like most MidEast governments), but I fail to understand why GOP warmongers dream of bombing Iranian cities and annihilating its civilians.

Iranian civilians, strangely enough, live "more freely" than those Medieval Saudis where the women still cannot drive (but the Saudi King promises it's coming). Iranian women have been driving for decades, and also practicing as physicians, scientists, and Iranian women also serve as Ministers of Parliament and as Vice Presidents of their Republic.… something unthinkable in Saudi. And yet, the USA considers the oppressive Saudis as "our friends".

It’s not that. Iran said that if all their neighbors disarmed and signed on to the Nuclear treaty that they would too but guess who refused..? Our good old ally!
Now we have Saudi saying that if Iran drops it’s Nuclear plans that it would too. Why didn’t Saudi say that if both Iran and Israel drop that it too would drop. One must be reasonable. You can’t expect from one what you would not expect from others. After what happened to Iraq and Libya I do not blame Iran and would do exactly the same. Iraq and Libya fell because they had no deterrent to deter their enemies which is exactly what Israel tells us today.

When I was Turkey in 2010 the government blocked Google. No Gmail, no YouTube, no Maps, no Docs.

America and Israel pretty much like to put walls and sanctions along with trade embargoes amongst other nations who are not on board with their political policies. They did that with Iraq which lead to a civil war in the Middle East.

Same as China now. Don’t see how all this blocking is any good for anyone. Governments blocking against their own and other governments blocking against others is all bad in my opinion but yet when people decide to boycott (a form of not supporting) one can be punished for it in America. When the government does it then it is ok but when the people do it then it is not ok. Go figure

Not just about the $$$$ but who stands with them on their political views and supports their political views and political agendas. Supporters get access and non-supporters do not get access. A form of blackmai and punishment against all in return

That’s the problem with cloud storage. Use it for backups but keep a primary copy also.
