turned off apple intelligence today when my screen just randomly did the siri frame glow and said “ok” to me after i said something to my dog
hehe. yeah, I've had the same thing from Siri, my google smart speaker and Alexa. Out of nowhere they would be asking for clarification or such when I never spoke to them in the first placeturned off apple intelligence today when my screen just randomly did the siri frame glow and said “ok” to me after i said something to my dog
Probably the long winded email was generated by AIIt's worth it just to be able to summarize unnecessarily long-winded emails via AI.![]()
All good, we’ve switched to what’s app long agoEveryone upgrading because iOS 18 supports RCS text messaging. Now their Android-using friends and family members won't feel like third-class citizens
I guess WhatsApp being an end to end encrypted messenger is miles better than non E2EE systems like SMS and RCS.Europe and UK should be taking RCS seriously and pushing hard for it. We basically have the same problem that the US does with messaging - it's just that the chat monopoly is WhatsApp rather than Messages.

I have 18.1 on 4 devices and none of them have latencies or erratic cursors.Against my better judgment, I installed 18.1, and the first thing I noticed was that none of the bugs that have been annoying me were fixed. I'm still experiencing latency and the erratic cursor, which reminds me of how the Mac used to be 15 years ago. Well, at least Apple is consistent. 🤷♂️
Most of the people I know couldn't tell you the difference between RCS and SMS or what any of them even mean. This tells me that many of the posts where android folks are saying “My iPhone friends aren’t updating to 18. I can tell because they’re not using RCS.” No, they intentionally turned it off.Who knows why?

Besides the reworked control center and RCS finally you mentioned with 18.1, there is also the Call Recording, and iPhone mirror or display your iPhone screen right on your Mac running 15.1 so you can view and use it without lifting your phone that is not related to AI at all for your 14PM.I'm on an iPhone 14PM so no AI for me. I updated quickly for the RCS, which is only partially working, and the ability to arrange icons on the screen where I want them, which is pretty wonky at best. Overall it's been a good update and made my old phone feel like new again.![]()
We are not there yet obviously, but its a touch better then with 17.x, 18.0Apple intelligence had been a let down. Siri is still unusable garbage.
…said the person who hasn’t a clue on how to use AI and how it can massively increase productivity and knowledge.i don’t need AI.
i have been doing great so far without any of these big data kraken…
the hype is over.

In my circle nobody even talked about RCS. YMMV. It was about the features in iOS 18.1 including apple intelligence.Honestly this is actually probably one of the bigger reasons.
Though many of them, like myself, were disappointed to find out that their MVNO doesn't support it and/or that their Android using friends are not using the one and only Android app that supports RCS, Google Messages.
