Just this month… i finally upgraded to the $2.99 plan per month - have A LOT of social media posts and other data i want quickly available on the phone and mac… swore i would never do this - so of course it happened…

Yep! It was PhotoStream ... it was great, and Apple killed it. 😔
If you investigate the Photos App, you’ll find that you can share any photos or any gallery you like with your wife or anyone else with whom you want to share. Take your photo stream and create a gallery if all your recent photos, and designate it to be shared with your wife.

PhotoStream used to do the free syncing across devices that was being described, in lieu of needing an iCloud plan.

PhotoStream was so lame and limited, I didn’t even notice it was gone. With iCloud, I can sync all the photos I take with my phone, plus everything I take with my real camera, edit and use for my website. It’s a godsend. I use it so much for my website I may have to double my storage space soon.

That's great to hear!
🙏

We all have different needs and preferences, however.

I would love Photostream, as it had been, to still be an option.

Yeah I don’t use any of these. I just need extra space to backup all my photos. If the price I pay per month includes them, if they could not and I could get a price break, that would be great thanks.

First, these aren’t free perks, they are included with what you’re paying for.

Second, HomeKit Secure Video supports a different number of cameras depending on the tier you’re paying for, which feels worth mentioning.

Third, this whole article feels like an ad for iCloud+. Yikes.

Private relay is horrendous, slows internet like crazy.
For the last 4 years or so, for me, Private Relay has been much faster than every paid VPN for which I've ever subbed or trialed. I love it. I use PIA for torrenting on an always-on Mac mini because of port forwarding but for everything else on all my Macs, iPad, iPhone, Private Relay is kind of amazing.

I duno about anyone else in London but private relay makes it impossible for me to connect to TFL wifi

Separately, Hide my email desperately needs a way to be accessed more easily & to reuse the same email across different websites without digging into the settings to copy it

The other thing to add, is this is not just for iPhone users, any of the devices attached to iCloud have use of this ‘paid for’ services.

So I am curious about all the comments that have “free perks“ in the comment. Did the original article say the perks were free? I ask because the article title I’m looking at says five perks. That being said, I do like the private relay and I’ve never had any issues with it. I also like the unlimited storage for my security cameras.
