Alright so I got an encrypted network at home; I can put in the godforsakenly long key in to access the net. My problem is when I go to work I select the wireless network at work - When I come back home I have to reenter the key.

Is there something I'm missing? Shouldn't the iPHONE be capable of remembering network keys to specific networks? I must have looked something over because I don't recall seeing a way to set it that way.

    Any help?

It's definitely capable of doing so...you shouldn't have to enter it everytime. It even says on the WiFi setting page on the iPhone "Known networks will be joined automatically"

So, what happens? Like, when you get home everyday, does it pop up, showing your network, and when you choose it, it asks for the password?

Alright well I've read that at the bottom of the network page for the iPHONE as well. So my assumption was - the networks I agree to join will be accepted every time their in range. So when I get home to surf-ze webs on the iPHONE I have to select my password protected network and enter it all over again.

I've done this task 3 times and I'm fed up with it! I do a lot of freelance business so its vital that I have on the go access wherever I'm at.

So what exactly am I doing wrong.

I come home - enter key browse internet.
Go to work - select the new network (which is unsecure) - browse internet
come home - ENTER KEY again.

I'm going to try using a different name for the Router in hopes that changes things.

I'm new here (have been lurking a while) but bought an iMac about a month ago and now an iPhone this week.

I was having the same kinds of problem with mine at home on my wireless network, sometimes asking me for my password 4-5 times before locking on.

On a lark, I went into my router and changed the wireless channel I was using to a different channel... and for the last day my iPhone has been locking on automatically to my home network without fail.

I concluded that the channel I had been using for wireless on my router either was noisy from neighbors' wireless OR perhaps from my cordless phones.

It's worth a shot if you know how to configure your wireless channel settings in your router.

Interesting predicament but the problem is slight different from mine.

Mine is that it FORGETS my home network key while your problem is in regards to the wireless channels.

maybe its that the SSID was the problem - so I changed the SSID and will test it out tomorrow.

Actually, my iPhone was remembering my key. It just kept failing to connect, and "thought" it had the wrong key so it would keep prompting me. So it wasn't a wrong-key situation... just a lack-of-connect situation in my case.

Changing the wireless channel on my router fixed my iPhone instantly without me having to retype my key again.

It might not apply to your situation, but in mine it seems to have done the trick.
