iPhone will someday cost $0 after subsidy

About a year ago I predicted that the iPhone will someday be free after subsidy with a 2 year contract and was ridiculed left and right by forum members, who claimed it'll never happen. Now with the subsidized $99 8GB iPhone 3G, it's never been cheaper upfront. Pretty soon at&t will sell refurb 8GB iPhone 3G for $0 with a 2 year contract (they did the same with refurb 4GB for $99, remember?).

When the new wears of any item the price starts to drop. Nothing unusual about it.

I do not foresee a brand new Apple device going for $0.

Agreed. Although in some places in Europe, it's not uncommon for "free" phones (that don't suck) with contract.

Uh, iPhone's have always been free down here in Australia if you're on a 24 month contract.

Well I guess that idea in my last post is the same for the land down under.

If that happens it means something ridiculously cooler than the iPhone has taken over the market.
