Power went out for an hour yesterday. I was charging the phone then. I was able to go to my car and charge it somewhat, but otherwise, I haven't been able to charge it. I've used a few different cables and methods. It's always the same. It indicates by the icon, that it's charging. but it doesn't. Now it's powered off. I plug it in and the red sliver shows and indicates that it's getting a charge, but it isn't.

Any ideas? iPhone 7.

I recommend taking the phone to an apple store for diagnosis.

Is it possible the phone experienced a power surge just before the power went out?

Yes. That's why I mentioned it. I've cleaned the plug with compressed air, cleaned the socket with contact cleaner. Still shows that it's charging but only loses charge.
