Hey guys. I have an iPhone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it with 5.0.1 trying to set up a restore with Cydia and it errored out (invalid build error I think). Then I tried 5.1.1 and stitched the shsh blob or whatever and it got further but gave a 16xx error a few times. Now I am trying to just restore it with 6.0.1. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iPhone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. I haven't been into the jailbreaking scene since the 3G (mostly android stuff), and apple seems to have tightened their stranglehold. Any ideas guys, or am I SOL?

Also, at one point I accidentally put it into a pwned dfu (with a limerain exploit). Could that be why it won't do a legitimate Apple restore?

It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end.

Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. I am having to abridge it due to the forum regulations of 20000 char limit, so you are reading the end. The entire log file is attached.

Try downloading Tiny Umbrella or Redsn0w and press fix recovery or end recovery. Some of those options may be gray. If these dont work, Redsn0w has plenty of other options including entering DFU mode and using blobs to restore from an older version of ios.

Sounds like a hardware problem. My power button went out once and the phone would not restore. I kept receiving -1 error. I unplugged the power button from the motherboard and the phone booted right up.

I have tried both redsnow and tinyumbrella's fix and exit recover features and it always reboots and goes back into recovery. Any other restores usually give me an incorrect build error or fail

Were you having issues getting the power button to respond? I havent had any of those but I can try it. Also I have tried multiple cords and computers.

Also I noticed a ramrod 1004 error. Is my baseband corrupted? I don't know how it would be but.. If left plugged in it restarts about every 12 minutes and goes to restore mode again.

It was probably close to a year ago, but im not 100% certain. If I remember correctly my phone would not power on at all. I could not restore as it would crash and give the -1 error. I also remember reading something about the baseband being bad, but that wasnt the case. If you have experience opening the phone, you can try to unplug the power button from the mother board and see if that helps. Theres also two other plugs, i believe both are for the LCD. Try to unplug those one at a time.

I am not scared to open the phone. I'll have to order a special screwdriver though, since it isn't a hex. Does anyone else have any ideas while I order that? A bad digitizer couldn't be messing it up could it?e

Could be camera, power button, lcd, digitizer, etc. Hopefully its one of those that can be replaced. The trick is to unplug them one at a time.

-1 Errors are usually due to hardware failure IME.

Could this hardware failure have been caused by me flashing something wrong? Or is this more of like a heat issue or something. It may have been in a 140 degree car over the summer. I'm not sure.

Well, I have a friends' iPhone they are selling me for a few bucks with a bad power button. I am going to try to mix and match parts until I get something working. If I swap logic boards after fixing the power button on hers and get the same problem, then I'll know it's hard bricked (baseband or something).
